  • This medium métrage (just over half an hour) is a fairly minor example of the art of af Klercker but, as in all his films, he is a master of mise en ecène. Here he has found a fine setting amongst the ruins of an old fort in Kungälv not far from the Skagerrak for a confrontation between an aristocratic landlord and some gypsy trespassers. This was a favourite theme at around this time of Carmen-mania and the treatment is not particularly original. The count is seduced by the pretty gypsy girl and marries her but she misses her own people. It should all end in tears but one can never be too sure with af Klercker......
