Professor Newton, a brilliant scientist, has broken all ties with the Federation and taken up residence on the alien world of Ophecius. Vena Ray convinces Commissioner Drake that the professor is not a traitor, but is being held against his will. Drake orders Rocky, Winkie and Vena to fly to Ophecius, fake a forced landing and find out whether the Professor is really friend or foe.

On the way to Ophecius to check out the defection of Professor Newton, The Orbit Jet has had to stop at the RB-5 refueling station for repairs. An unsuspected ship shot a hole in the hull. Now that it has been fixed, Rocky, Winkie and Vena Ray head for Ophecius. They approach the planet faking an emergency with a broken retro-rocket. Queen Cleolanta agrees to let them land hoping to persuade them that Ophecius is a wonderful place to live. Unknown to Rocky and friends, she has used a device in her headquarters to put Bobby in a trance to sing of Ophecian virtues. She hopes to do the same to Rocky, but he is able to escape without it taking hold when Vena distracts him. Bobby recovers from his trance and tells Rocky that they are being held against their wills. He runs to the lab where Professor Newton is supposed to be helping the Ophecian develop advanced technologies. He manages to spring the professor free from his captors. Rocky also forces an Ophecian to reveal that Griff is the mole in the Office of Space Affairs that is leaking security information. The Orbit Jet blasts off with Winkie and Vena Ray at the controls as Rocky, the professor and Bobby scramble aboard.

The Orbit Jet has escaped from the planet Ophecius with Rocky, Winkie, Vena Ray, Professor Newton and Bobby aboard. Cleolanta is furious, even more so when she learns that Darganto was forced into revealing that Griff is the mole in the Office of Space Affairs. Griff is quickly warned that his cover is blown and instructed to set up some explosives that will destroy the Orbit Jet when it is on the launch pad. Griff overpowers Secretary of Space Drake and forces him at gunpoint to comply with his instructions. Rocky is suspicious when only Griff is available on the radio. When they finally arrive on Earth, he hops off to survey what is afoot. Griff temporarily gains the upper hand and forces Secretary Drake board the ship so he will be inside when it blows up. But Rocky uses a crane to gain access to the gantry and starts after Griff. While chasing Griff down, he discovers the timer for the explosives. He disconnects the wires and tells Winkie to take the Orbit Jet up in case there are other charges hidden. As Griff flees in an Office of Space Affairs car, Rocky is able to track him on security equipment and press a destruct button.

Landing on Fornax with its heavy gravitational field has left the Orbit Jet's fuel tanks empty. Rocky and the crew are depending on their being life on Fornax to replenish their tanks for the return trip. After checking that the atmosphere is safe to breathe, they approach a large building. The door opens and Zorovac, ruler of Fornax, greets them. With him is Pofessor Cardos, a scientist who disappeared under suspicious circumstances a few years in the past. Professor Newton and Rocky are distrustful of Cardos. Using their electronic equipment to eavesdrop, they learn that Cardos is planning to appropriate the Orbit Jet to return to Earth for his own selfish purposes. Zorovac agrees to let the Earth crew refuel their ship using Fornax minerals while Bobby enjoys playing with Zorovac's daughter Volaca. Rocky takes the ship for a test flight and finds that the instruments have been jimmied. Luckily, he is able to return. Zorovac is suspicious that Cardos's portrayal of Earthlings as greedy exploiters is wrong. He is hoping to visit Earth to see for himself what Earth culture is like. Bobby, Vena and the Professor will be left on Fornax as collateral.
Tue, Apr 20, 1954
Rocky and Winkie take Fornax leader Zorovac to visit Earth. Once there and visiting with Secretary Drake, he sees that Cardos was misleading him about Earth's actions. While they are away, Cardos conspires to send more warhead-equipped missiles to Earth. Griff, whose ship had earlier been disabled by Rocky, manages to radio Cados and have him help his ship land on Ophecius. Cleolantha learns about his mission and talks Darganto into flying to Fornax and exploiting their high-energy crystals for her own use. Bobby catches wind of all these plans, but is nabbed before he can warn Rocky. He is locked up in a cell. But Bobby's playmate, Zorovac's daughter Volaca, climbs to window where she can talk to him. He has her get a radio and let Rocky know the score. Word arrives to the Secretary that another missile is on the way. He has the Orbit Jet intercept it. Then the Orbit Jet heads back to Fornaz where it manages to hit the Ophecian ship with missiles and blow it up before it can take off with Darganto, Cardos and Griff. All three would-be vandals are apprehended and sent for judgments. A firm link of friendship has been established between Fornax and Earth.

Tuck Harmon, with several suitcases full of stolen money, steals a rocket ship and plans to live out his days on his own private moon. After several failed comedic attempts by his sidekick Winky to get a date for the night, Secretary Drake, Head of the Space Rangers, finally gets through and Rocky gets the call to chase Tuck down. When Tuck Harmon sends out a mayday call after his ship is struck by Meteors, it is Rocky to the rescue. After it is revealed that Tuck is superstitious, they touch down on a local moon, Tuck's ultimate destination. There Bobby, Rocky's child friend, makes friends of his own with the local princess and they concoct a way to get Tuck to reveal all. Hijinks ensue and Rocky is able to get Tuck to admit his crimes.

Flying through space, the Orbit Jet encounters foul weather - lightning and thunder. Rocky speculates that they have hit an atmosphere chain that must have formed between two bodies that were close to each other. Vena is tutoring Bobby on board the Orbit Jet. He does well with his mathematics, but is not receptive about reading the poetry she has assigned - The Odyssey. Rocky tells Bobby that Ulysses had great adventures. Shortly after that, an aircraft approaches them and releases a volley of shots. Rocky pulls the rocket back into space where they cannot go. Their radar detects a solid object and they spot a city. They watch the airplane land and approach to check it out. A powerful magnetic field takes over control of their vessel. Once on the ground, they are boarded by Bavaro, ruler of Posita, the moon on which they have landed. Bavaro wants them to carry a bomb to their arch enemies who live on the companion moon Negato. Their plane can't get past their defenses, but the Orbit Jet could. Rocky is unwilling to carry out his demands. Bavaro wants them to abandon their rocket. Their only hope for freedom lies in Bavaro's wife Cotanda who has taken a liking to Vena. As Cotanda leads Vena away for a tour, Rocky and Winkie hide on the ship. They overcome Bavaro's men, take their uniforms, and overcome Bavaro. Everyone meets back at the Orbit Jet to discuss how to escape from Posita.
Tue, Mar 23, 1954
Rocky and his crew have been incommunicado with Secretary Drake for so long that he has given up hope of hearing from them again. He makes a sad announcement to the rest of the ranger corps. On Posita, Rocky has given up hope of fixing the Orbit Jet without help from Bavaro. He sends Vena to plead with Cotanda for his help. Bavaro is not about to acquiesce. While on board the ship, a Negato airplane traverses the atmospheric stream broadcasting mind-numbing music. Cotanda explains that this is what Negato uses as warfare tactics. She says that the planet was unified a thousand years ago, but gaining control of lightning caused the planet to split into the two moons. Negato has enslaved Posita for year with its music, but Bavaro has gradually built up strength to oppose them. Rocky promises Bavaro that he will seek a peace accord with Negato if Bavaro allows him to fly to the other moon. Bavaro is doubtful but agrees. On Negato, the Orbit Jet crew use their space helmets to block the sound much as Ulysses used cotton earplugs to fight off the Sirens. Rocky is able to negotiate with its ruler, Torvak, a offer to try for peace. With him aboard, they head back toward Posita. Meanwhile, Cleolanta has learned of Rocky's disappearance and is poised to use recorded transmissions of his voice to serve her dictatorial plans.
Tue, Mar 30, 1954
The Orbit Jet takes Torvac from Negato to meet with Bavaro on Posita. The two leaders are ready to make peace with each other. As Rocky and crew head back toward Earth, they hear Cleolanta launch her scheme using prerecorded transmissions of his voice. She makes it appears that Rocky has requested Secretary Drake to head to Ankapor for a meeting of various leaders. Cleolanta is masquerading as Vena Ray while Atlasande is impersonating Rocky. Secretary Drake arrives as expected. Rocky and crew quickly decide that they will need to wear disguises, too, so that they won't be suspected as impersonators themselves. This parallels Ulysses needing to do the same thing when returning home after rumors of his death. Rocky manages to break into the conference location and disable Atlasande. When Cleolanta calls on Atlasande to make it seem that Rocky is endorsing a plan to realign some United World planets under the rule of Ophecius, Rocky himself broadcasts the message that such is not the case. Cleolanta rushes into the room where Atlasande was hiding from Secretary Drake, and is immediately overpowered. With the political situation now restored to rights, Rocky and Crew can happily head toward R&R on Earth.

The United Planets are attempting to build an outpost on the planet Casa 7. Cargo ships with contributions from several planets have gone missing. The latest is Earth's ship CM7 carrying Ranger Reggie and Vena Ray. Vena hopes to visit her brother who is working on Casa 7. On their approach to the planet, the pair suddenly find their instruments and rocket propulsion systems neutralized. Shortly thereafter, they are boarded by a rogue ship that confiscates their cargo. The pirate leader is the nefarious Rinkman who uses neutralizing technology developed by Dr. Vanko. After stowing the stolen cargo, the pirates leave CM7 adrift in a permanent orbit around Casa 7. With no means of communication, Vena and Reggie settle in to planning how to stay alive until they are found. Secretary Drake is alarmed when CM7 goes missing and sends Rickie and Winkie out to check on it. Bobby talks Rocky into including him. The Orbit Jet finds an abandoned Martian ship that shoots at them. Then they spot the CM7. Reggie and Vena can't contact them by radio, so they jettison a missile to attract attention. Rocky correctly interprets the sign. He brings the Orbit Jet alongside CM7 and rescues Vena and Reggie.
Tue, May 11, 1954
With the Orbit Jet magnetically coupled to the disabled CM7, Rocky brings the rescued Vena and Reggie to Casa 7. Vena's brother Paul is there to greet her. While Paul shows Vena, Bobby and Reggie around, Rocky studies the solar system atlas and deduces that the pirates must be using the planetoid Prah as their base operations base. No ship has ever landed on Prah; there seems to be some sort of defensive barrier. Three ships have tried and were never heard from again. Because the mission may be so dangerous, Rocky and Winkie sneak away in the Orbit Jet before Vena and Bobby wake the next morning. Rocky's plan for slipping past the defensive barrier is to utilize the cold lamp developed by Professor Newton. It will render their rocket invisible so that anyone on Prah will be unaware of their approach. The ploy works. The Orbit Jet lands safely, completely invisible. Rinkman and Dr. Vanko are on the gantry, drawn there by the noise of the landing. Rocky jumps out the door onto the gantry platform, seemingly appearing out of thin air. He is overcome by a pirate who sneaks in from his blind side. Imprisoned in a cave cell, he plots with Winkie to escape. Cleolanta, who is behind the pirate scheme, heads from Ophecius for Prah, hoping to woo Rocky to her side. But before she arrives, Rocky tricks Rinkman who has come to bargain with him. He pretends an invisible Winkie is behind him. Rocky is able to flee to the Orbit Jet and take off before he can be apprehended. He is committed to finding out who is behind the piracy operation.
Tue, May 18, 1954
Rocky and Winkie return to Casa 7 after escaping from the pirates of Prah. But the radio operator Ken, who arranges for the Orbit Jet to land, is in league with the pirates. He lets Rinkman, Dr. Vanko and Cleolanta know about their return. As Rocky and Winkie greet Vena Ray, Bobby and Paul, Rinkman quickly flies to Casa 7. Ken learns of the cold lamp and turns it on to hide the Orbit Jet in place. Then he and Rickman surprise Rocky and imprison him aboard the Orbit Jet with Haggar Nu, a Martian who also was on to Ken's disloyalty. Rickman's men force Winkie, Vena, Bobby and Paul to board their ship for a flight to Ophecius. Cleolanta is eager to get Rocky there, too, so has his friends taken as hostages. But Rocky knows the Orbit Jet well. He is able to hop to a place where he can slice his bonds off and free Haggar Nu. Rocky is able to overcome Rickman where he learns the rest of his friends are being held on Rickman's ship that is ready to launch. He has to stall a last minute lift-off of the pirate ship because Haggar Nu has put explosives in the rocket tubes. Rocky, with a few punches from a freed Winkie, is able to subdue the pirate team and heads to Earth with them in custody.

Rocky is off again, this time to investigate a vague "need aid" message from a space station. It is discovered that radiation poisoning is to blame and the source is Agar of the planet Medina. Agar went to the Forbidden Moon and is the only one to ever survive. He did it with the help of a plant that gives immunity to the moon's "cosmic" radiation. Now Agar, a walking radiation pump, plans to rule the universe with this. Agar will give the immunity to his sister Yarra (he "shares" the rule of Medina with her) and his people and threaten all others with the radiation unless they do as they wish. Will Rocky save the day and the universe?! Short answer: Yes. Vena, Winky, the Professor, and of course Bobby are on board for this mission.

Rocky, Winky, Professor Newton and Vena repair Agar's spacecraft at space station RV5 and chase after him. Agar has stolen the Orbit Jet with Bobby aboard, hoping to reach the planet Medina where he can carry out his scheme for dominating the universe. He has been exposed to heavy radiation on the Forbidden Planet but has discovered a plant that can neutralize its otherwise fatal effects. Agar attempts to convince his sister Yarra of the plan, but she is skeptical. Bobby is brought before her. In his honest and open responses to her questions, he wins his release. As he is shown around the compound, he notices Rodky and company arriving in Agar's ship. Yarra sends guards out to capture and imprison Rocky, Winky, the Professor and Vena. When Yarra starts to feel bad, Bobby correctly diagnoses that she is suffering from radiation poisoning acquired by spending time close to Agar. Bobby takes her to Professor Newton who quickly administers a healing serum. She is grateful and wants to curtail Agar's mad program. Rocky and his team plan to escape. Vena has talked an admiring guard out of his extra uniform so that she can snag Bobby. They are apprehended at the foot of the Orbit Jet. At gunpoint, they are forced to enter their ship and take it wherever Agar demands.

Agar forces Rocky to fly the Orbit Jet to the Forbidden Moon. On board are Winky, Vena, Bobby, Professor Newton, Yarra and three of Agar's henchmen. Rocky is able to alert the Secretary of their destination before the radio signal fades. Agar is in interested in a supply of the plants that grow there that can impart immunity to the fatal radiation that can be spread from one exposed person to another. Professor Newton finds the plants and sets up a serum production facility inside a cavern. Agar waits until enough serum has been amassed that he can start taking over other planets. But the Professor is tricky, he lets Agar take unrefined serum that is still toxic. Agar flees in the Orbit Jet with his henchmen, stranding the others on the Forbidden Planet with limit food and oxygen. The Professor realizes that they can let Earth authorities know of their presence by rigging a nuclear blast that will send out a distress signal of sorts. They rig three radiation packs on an outcrop rich with radioisotopes to trigger the detonation. The pulse of the explosion plume is seen and the Secretary races in a ship to rescue everyone. It is easy for them to catch the Orbit Jet as everyone aboard has been sickened by using the unrefined serum. Agar and company are arrested on the spot. Yarra is grateful for the Space Ranger's assistance in squelching this fiendish plot.

Rocky is slated to pilot the Orbit Jet to Space Station X-07 carrying Dr. Hillary Tyson and a group of ambassadors to the Interplanetary Peace Conference. Vena Ray pleads with Secretary Drake to let her go. But it was unnecessary as Rocky had already selected her as his navigator. He is also bringing Bobby to help keep the ship's log during the mission. The conference is being held in a neutral zone near the planetoid Paratain in the Jupiter equilateral. Cleolantha has heard about the conference and is resentful that she has not been invited. Her first angry reaction is to have her Space Ranger mole Duveen blow up the Orbit Jet as it launches. Luckily, the electronic detectors at the launch field pick up on the detonator he is trying to set. He is quickly nabbed and carried away in custody. So then Cleolanta sends Atlasande to take control of the X-07 space station after Rocky and his crew head for some R&R on Paratain. Shortly after the Orbit Jet has left the station, Atlasande sends a message to its communications officer that he has a barrage of missiles aimed at them. Unless his ship is immediately brought safely in, he will launch them. The radio officer complies.

Atlasande and his crew board Space Station X-07 to take Dr. Tyson and his gathering of ambassadors as hostages. Meanwhile, Rocky has landed on Paratain. He calls Tyson to see how things are going. Atlasande realizes he'd better let Tyson speak or Rocky will know things are fishy. Tyson manages to raise Rocky's suspicions anyway by confirming that he will see him in 24 hours, not the 72 hours they had agreed on earlier. After the call, Atlasande loads his hostages on his ship to take them to Ophecius. Rocky calls again to re-check Tyson's time change, but gets no answer. In consultation with Secretary Drake, Rocky realizes that Cleolanta is behind this subterfuge. In the Orbit Jet, the crew flies back to X-07. Of course, no one is there. Cleolanta calls Rocky to inform him that she will trade the ambassadors for her two men that are on trial for espionage, Darganto and Griff. Rocky manages to negotiate the terms of the swap, that it will take place on X-07. He leaves Vena and Bobby there while he and Winky go to Earth to pick up the two accused men. Cleolanta coaches Atlasande to have hidden weapons for the trade event. As the trade occurs, he and his men draw their guns. They are keeping Dr. Tyson as a hostage.

Rocky declares that the Ophecians have violated the exchange agreement in keeping Dr. Tyson as a hostage. Tyson, hearing how things are going, secretly slips a pill into his mouth. The Ophecians lock Rocky and the others in the conference room, sealing it with a 3-hour time-lock. As the Ophecians get set to leave, Darganto tries to reassert his leadership over Atlasande. When Atlasande refuses, Darganto launches an initiative to make Atlansande look bad. He and Griff duck into a mechanical room and shut off the oxygen supply for the station. On the way to the Ophecian ship, Tyson collapses. They think he is dead and leave him behind. Times passes. Soon, everyone in the conference room becomes short of breath. Rocky quickly surmises that the air supply is not working. They will be dead by the time the 3-hour lock opens unless they can get to the control valve. Looking at the vent cover, Rocky forms a plan. He borrows Vena's lipstick tube to use as a screwdriver and then sends Bobby down the duct-works. He is small enough to fit through the 18-inch square opening. At the far end Bobby is stopped by another cover. Winky shouts for him to "use his head" to solve the problem. He does just that - he butts the cover off and restores oxygen flow. He grabs some pliers from a nearby toolbox to force open the time lock. Everyone is distressed to have lost Dr. Tyson. As they carry his body toward their ship, however, he wakes up. He used a suspended animation pill that his lab has been developing. He radios Secretary Drake to award special citations to the Orbit Jet crew, especially Bobby.

The Space Ranger's Space Center is plagued with a series of sabotage incidents - the radio system going on the blink, tires of the Secretary's car flattened, sounds of a cat and dog fighting outside their dorm windows. The culprit is Kip, the son of a convicted criminal who is incarcerated at the Ranger's prison. He is acting out in retaliation for his father's woes. Rocky takes on the challenge of showing Kip that he can use his talents as an electronics whiz to gain the respect of the Ranger staff. Instead of punishing him, he takes him on a mission to a planet where Pinto Vortando, an unshaven space rogue, is leading a civil revolt. Rocky shows Kip how Portando is not a hero as a criminal, but a coward. Kip and Bobby save the day when Kip alters an electronic sound box to make it sound like a large fleet of Ranger ships is attacking Portando's headquarters.

Secretary Drake, accompanied by Rocky and Winky, has gone to Ophecius to try one more time to get Cleolanta to join the United Worlds of the Solar System. She vehemently refuses saying, "I don't need any help!" and gives them one hour to vacate her planet or be destroyed. When Rocky calls refueling Space Station O.W.9 expecting to hear Ranger Andrews' voice, he is puzzled. That's because Vena Ray is disguising her voice as Andrews. She, Bobby and Professor Newton have hitched a ride to the space station to surprise the Orbit Jet on its return. Rocky is distressed because he has just noticed that the gypsy moons of Negato and Posita will encompass O.W.9 in the atmospheric chain that links them. The space station was not built to withstand atmospheric forces. The Orbit Jet has just sufficient time to rush to the station and boost it out of the way. After saving everyone on the space station, Professor Newton reveals that new calculations of the future elliptic orbits of the gypsy moon pair show that they will collide with Ophecius on the 19th of next month. Cleolanta is going to need their help. The Orbit Jet sets down on Posita to let their friends Bavaro and Cotanda know the fate off their moon. Bavaro, a proud new father of a son, refuses to believe what he is told. He swears his son will grow to someday rule Posita.

The Silver Moon XV-3 spacecraft returns to an Earth that is suffering from a cold spell. Professor Mayberry's hopes to fish and Vena's daydreams about beach time are dashed. Once they have landed, Secretary Drake introduces the crew to Rudy DiMarco, a new Olympic champion as well as star in both classroom and lab activities. He is accompanied by his mentor Dr. Reno. Drake indicates that Juliandra, suzerain (i.e., queen) of Herculon is anxious to promote understanding and goodwill between her planet and Earth now that they have joined the United Planets. She proposes an exchange of outstanding young citizens to help with this endeavor, hoping Rocky will be Earth's exchange personage. She offers Biffin Cardoza. Rudy challenges Rocky to a boxing match to demonstrate his superiority as the exchange person. He beats Rocky in the match, so Drake agrees he will be the one. Soon, the Silver Moon is bound for Herculon. Unknown to Rocky and Secretary Drake, Rudy intends to overthrow the United Planets with the help of the old guard on the former enemy world. He contacts Trimbi of the underground rebel movement. Dr. Reno and Trimbi sneak up on a sleeping Vena. Using a special ray, they force her to write a note to Rocky that she has been kidnapped and the spot where she hopes he can rescue her. When Rocky arrives at the designated spot, he is jumped by rebels. Luckily, Biff helps Rocky drive them off. Bobby manages to find the room where Vena had been placed. Professor Mayberry has determined that current sunspots are interfering with radio transmissions between planets. For the time being, Rocky is unable to talk with anyone on Earth.

While Rocky is on Herculon, Professor Mayberry is studying the sun to determine why Earth is suffering a protracted cold spell. Secretary Drake is reluctant to let the public know there is something wrong with the sun. Most of the world is taking the snowy weather as an excuse to enjoy some vacation time. Dr. Reno, who has ulterior political motives, tries to sneak away despite Secretary Drake's directive to stay in place. On Herculon, Bobby, Griff and Vena are sunbathing. Because static is interfering with radio transmissions, Rocky decides that the Silver Moon should return to Earth. As he is leaving, Rudy hands him a letter for Secretary Drake. He seems unusually pleased with its contents. Back on Earth, Professor Mayberry explains his theory of the cold sun. Somehow, some of its contents have formed a solid shell that is blocking outgoing solar radiation. He suggests that the Space Rangers take two totanic missiles to a newly discovered moon of Mercury named Torita. Because the sun is cool, they should be able to land there. If they shoot the missiles into the sun, that will "stoke the fires" such that their heat will melt the interfering shell. Rocky is having difficulty in finding his way through space because the static caused by the sun has taken out their visiograph and radio. He heads for Space Station OW9. Under cover of the static, the pirate Pinto Vortando and two ruffians have attacked OW9, taken some valuable equipment and destroyed its stabilization generator. Rocky is barely able to dock there. He manages to rescue Clark from the wobbling station. They give chase to Pinto and manage to capture him after shooting several missiles at his ship. Pinto and his two aids are taken aboard in custody. When they land on Earth, Secretary Drake tells Rocky that the Silver Moon is to be one of the two ships that will deploy the totanic missiles at the sun. The other is the XV9 under the direction of Dr. Reno (with questionable loyalties). Rocky hands Drake the letter from Rudy. It is an unsettling message because it indicates that Juliandra plans to marry Rudy. Rudy will then rule Herculon. This is part of Rudy's plan to take over Herculon for his own purposes.

Rocky, Biff, and Vena are aboard the Silver Moon XV-3 spacecraft that is returning to Earth. Rocky goes to check in with Vena about her navigation reports. He chides her for not doing her work as the reports are not on the clipboard as expected. There is just dust on the floor beneath it. Vena is nonplussed about the missing reports because she has copies in the desk draw. They are dust, too, as is the wooden shaft of her pencil. Some of the instruments with wooden housing are suddenly loose. Rocky calls United World headquarters as requests an emergency landing through a ground-controlled descent. Professor Mayberry is puzzled but after studying materials in the lab and looking through his telescope, he hypothesizes that high energy particles are interacting with the wood. The source seems to be a planetary nebula around the moon Circo. The secretary suspends all space travel until this can be checked out. Rocky, Biff, the professor and Vena climb aboard the Silver Moon that has had all wood removed and a radiation reflective coating on its hull. They head toward Circo, refusing to take Bobby with them because of potential danger. At the same time, Agar, exiled former ruler of Medina, has escaped from supervision and is plotting to regain power. He is aided by Dorton, one of his countrymen who has been working on Earth. The Silver Moon reaches the vicinity of Circo and the professor confirm that thermonuclear eruptions on the surface are the source of intense particle fluxes one plume of which is headed for Earth. If it were not for the moon currently blocking them, there would be catastrophic consequences. They need to do something about that before the moon moves out of position.

The Silver Moon XV-3 spacecraft returns to Earth after its reconnaissance mission of the moon Circo. Professor Mayberry warns Secretary Drake that all wood on Earth will disintegrate if no action is taken. He suggests building a series of giant space mirrors that could reflect the high energy particle back toward Circo. Rocky says that this can only be accomplished in time if all other nonessential manufacturing is shut down. This would mean that the entire public would be aware of the dire situation. Meanwhile, the escaped Agar has donned a disguise hoping that it will allow him to go off planet. He even was so bold as to go to Space Agency Headquarters. No one picked up on his real identity. He demands that Dorton steal a spacecraft for him. He suggests that they could launch simultaneously with another ship such that the launch equipment will be enabled. Earth factories are making lots of space mirrors. As Bobby plays with an individual-sized one, the professor tells him he will be in charge of a company of boys during the big repelling event. Agar and Dorton have managed to steal the NX-7. To mislead possible pursuers, he acts as if he is fleeing back to his home planet of Medina. The ship he is in is equipped with "cold light' that can make them invisible. Marshall radios Rocky with details of Agar course data. With Rocky in close pursuit, Agar puts Dorton in a space suit with 5 minutes of oxygen before tossing him out the door. Rocky and Biff stop to rescue Dorton. Just as Rocky is readying missiles to fire at Agar, Secretary Drake orders him to return to Earth at once. Circo is threatening to blow up at once. The professor wants to envelope Circo in magnetic elements that will bind together as a skin for Circo. They have made plans Juliandra, queen of Herculon, to stockpile the requisite materials. Agar overhears these transmissions and heads there himself. With his disguise in place, he presents himself to Juliandra as Dr. Norac from Venus. He hopes to study Circo as their planet's contribution to solving the problems. As Secretary Drake and Rocky confer, a disaster call sets off alarms. A report form Observation Point 43 north, 22 east reports catastrophic failure of wooden buildings. Trains are shut down because railroad ties have turned to powder.

Earth is suffering wood degradation under the intense flux of high-energy particles coming from the moon Circo. The shelves in the Office of Space Affairs labs collapse, breaking and spilling the contents of chemical containers. Global plans are made for C-Day, a time when each person will aim a small mirror toward Circo along with the reflections from giant space mirrors that have been built. The hope is that the returned beam will disable its source. At the same time, Rocky and Biff, who have flown the Silver Moon to Herculon, will drop magnetic elements onto Circo to bind the moon together. Agar, on Herculon and disguised as a Venusian scientist, conspires with Shima to take Queen Juliandra hostage and use her as bait to get to Rocky. He figures on disposing of Rocky with a space "accident" so no blame will be placed on him. Agar wants to retake control of Medina while Shima will replace Juliandra as queen on Herculon. Shima has recruited the aid of the muscular Naboro to help overcome Rocky. Aboard the XV-7 rocket that Agar stole, Juliandra is forced to fake a distress call to the Silver Moon, begging to be rescued. When the Silver Moon pulls alongside and couples to the XV-7, Naboro takes on Rocky while Agar fights Biff. Agar smashes the Silver Moon's steering controls before he, Naboro and Shima escape back in their rocket. Juliandra is left behind with Rocky. Because the Silver Moon is already on the right heading to make the drop of magnetic elements, Rocky completes his part of the Circo mission. But the Silver Moon is directly in path of the reflected beam coming from Earth. Rocky quickly improvises a steering jet from a missile held in a perpendicular direction out the door. He is thus able to maneuver the Silver Moon out of harm's way. Not so with the XV-7. Unaware of the impending danger, its crew is still vulnerable to the returning beam. As Rocky, Biff and Juliandra watch, the XV-7 explodes with all aboard.
