A sexual relationship between a thirty-year-old recently widowed woman and a younger man is the main theme of the story.
In the first scene, a ship brings an injured man to port for treatment. He is wearing torn clothes and is shown shirtless.
While sunbathing on the beach and later sailing on a boat, various male and female characters are shown wearing just swimsuits.
One character mentions a "porn novel" in dialogue.
