- The film was unreleased in the UK until 1972, after the junkyard fight between the thugs and the hippies was heavily cut at the behest of the BBFC. All later UK home video releases present the scene completely uncut.
- The 2015 Olive Films DVD/Blu-ray releases of the film are of the restored and remastered director's cut, which runs 101 minutes. By comparison, the 1988 HBO Video VHS release is slightly shorter at 98 minutes, while the 1968 theatrical prints and the 2003 MGM DVD release are severely truncated, with both running 82 minutes. Compared to the theatrical prints and MGM DVD, the restored scenes in the Olive Films release include:
- Jenny observing some buskers and being asked if she has "a place to crash".
- Harry trying to flirt with Jenny and asking if she is a Gemini.
- Elwood experiencing an LSD trip during the bus ride, followed by Stoney and the gang putting up posters.
- A montage of Jenny trying on clothes; this is then followed by a tracking shot through a jam session during which Elwood asks Pandora about her slow dancing.
- A man next to Lynn experiencing an LSD trip, during which he has colorful visions of scantily-clad women.
