Paul and Corie need a new bed so Honey promises he can get them a great deal through his connections. But the newlyweds find their $100 buys them a very unsatisfactory night sleep and want their money back.
Paul falls ill, taking a day off work and need to rest in bed. Corie is concerned but her and everyone else's helpfulness end up making Paul sicker then he was in the beginning.
Paul is assigned a secretary that be doesn't need or want. To occupy her time Candy decorates the office in a very modern Afro-centric style to the unhappiness of her boss. Paul must get rid of her without upsetting anybody.
Paul and the other defendants are dissatisfied with conditions at their building. They decide to take their grievances to the landlord but when Paul finds out it's Sugar Ray Robinson he has second thoughts.
Corie's aunt Violet is visiting and her negative attitude toward men causes conflict in the apartment. Aftter a big fight with his wife Paul with Honey's urging comes up with a plan but it winds up with them in jail.
Corie, while looking across the back alley, believes she has seen a murder in a neighboring apartment. She involves Paul and refuses to think there is another explanation for what she glimpsed.
Paul must defend his mother-in-law Mabel in court. He's up against two crafty and not entirely scrupulous attorneys who will do almost anything to win a case.
After Corie buys a chair that is broken Paul takes it back to the store and get their money back. The manager has other ideas and tries to get Paul to exchange the merchandise for an expensive stereo that happens to be defective.
Repercussions are felt in all quarters after Corle's one session with a sensitivity group. She's convinced that the truth must be told, no matter who it hurts.
