Leading cast members Gus Mercurio and Gerard Kennedy had been famous for co-starring together in two Australian television series - Tandarra (1976) and Cash and Company (1975). This resulted in their teaming again in this feature film called Raw Deal (1977).
The makers of this cinema movie had previously produced with the same two lead stars, Gus Mercurio and Gerard Kennedy, two mini-series for television. These were Tandarra (1976) and Cash and Company (1975).
This 1970s Australian movie was available during the 1980s in Australia on home video-cassette but the title has never been released there on DVD, Blu-Ray or laserdisc.
The film in 1977 was nominated for 3 AFI (Australian Film Institute) Awards including Best Achievement in Cinematography for Vincent Monton, Best Achievement in Sound for Bruce Lamshed and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Christopher Pate. In the end, the film failed to take home a gong in any of these categories.
The film's opening title card states: ''Australia has never known revolution. Perhaps this is why . . . . . .''.
