Goofs

Having been present when the previously mentioned variations on where Dom DeLuise lands on the center of the terrazzo floor seal of Texas in the Capitol were filmed, DeLuise's back and the floor were sprayed with silicone, and he was shot off a small slide (aluminum or stainless?), head down, via a compressed-air activated panel at his feet. The scene was shot several times, and he never quite landed in the center.

When dancing to "Sneaking around with you" Ed Earl has a blanket wrapped around him. It changes length and the way it's tied several times.

When Sheriff Dodd punches Melvin P. Thorpe and sends him sliding across the floor, Thorpe slides across a design in the floor and stops with his head and shoulders outside the design. The following aerial shot shows him with his head centered perfectly in the middle of the design.

In the scene where Burt is telling Dolly to shut down for 2 months her hair is parted on the left, but when she walks in the hallway it is parted on the right.

When Ed Earl comes out of the bathroom wearing the underwear with "little silver snaps," he jumps into bed and settles under the covers on the side with the regular pillowcase. However, in the next shot, he is seen lying past the middle of the bed with his head on the other pillow (with the satin pillowcase).

During the early song/dance with the Chicken Ranch girls, as they are dancing, the lead dancer trips, stumbles and rights herself during the song; clearly not written into the story.

The supposedly stereographic photo pair right at the beginning isn't: It's just the exact same image twice, down to identical blotches and grain structure.

During the song "Little Bitty Pissant Country Place", Dolly welcomes some gentleman callers. She says "well howdy boys" and walks towards them smiling. Her mouth is clearly visible and she is not speaking but we hear her saying. "It's good to see you. Nice to meet you."

Although Miss Mona says she has plenty of experience getting changed quickly, there is simply not enough time for her to put on her clothes, escape the house and get to her car (where she is seen speaking to Deputy Fred) in the time it takes Ed Earl to get from the bedroom to the front door to greet him.

When Miss Mona and the girls are singing the rules of the house, one of the rules is "no tattoos, because brands belong on cattle", but one of the girls clearly has a tattoo on her shoulder blade.

After hearing his passionate defense of the Chicken Ranch, the Governor asks if Ed Earl has considered running for office. While he clearly means running for the Legislature or possibly Governor or even Lt. Governor, Sheriffs are also elected in Texas.

Deputy Fred refers to the University of Texas as Texas University. It is commonly called UT in Texas, occasionally TU by Texas A&M supporters.
