FAQ

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

FAQ

A demanding customer wanted a refund for his supposedly under-cooked breakfast. After he berates Brad one too many times, Brad lost his temper and threatened the man. Dennis Taylor, the manager, comes out to see what is going on. The customer tells Dennis that Brad threatened him with violence and Dennis immediately cans Brad. In a deleted scene after he comes home after being fired, Brad angrily tears up a Coca-Cola advertising poster above his bed.

More specifically, Brad's job was a cook and was covering the register for a friend/co-worker who had to go to the bathroom. He wasn't immediately familiar with the refund procedure because it wasn't his normal job.

Because he thought Spicoli was a slacker and was wasting his valuable teaching time. However, the two become friends near the end of the movie.

He did not. Stacy immediately had a crush on him when he showed up at the restaurant to give Mark his wallet. He was drawn into having sex with her in the pool house. Mark almost got into a physical fight with Damone in the school locker room over it. However, the two reconciled at the year-end school dance and Mark and Stacy eventually became a couple again.

In a loose fashion: it is based on Cameron Crowe's memoirs about going back to high school in 1979 undercover when he was a reporter for Rolling Stone Magazine. His writings were eventually published into a novel, which was adapted into the movie's screenplay.

Yes. It aired on CBS during the 1985-86 season. Ray Walston and Vincent Schiavelli were the only ones from the original movie to reprise their roles in the series.

Stuart Cornfeld. He was a movie producer and a friend of director Amy Heckerling. One of the students in the movie has a last name called Cornfeld, a reference to him.

In 1984, Cameron Crowe wrote the screenplay for a movie called The Wild Life. It's a follow-up to Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but not a sequel. The main similarity is that in The Wild Life, Sean's brother Chris Penn is the stoner (albeit a jock stoner, not a surfer).

Yes. Bronco Burger at the local mall, but quit because it was too much for him to handle.

No. He decided to keep it a secret between him and Stacy.

The original VHS, Laserdisc, and CED releases have the original theatrical verson with all the deleted scenes intact. These scenes can be seen on the original network TV version. In the early '90s, a remastered print was shown on local syndication that included (not all) of the deleted footage.

The robbery is interrupted when Spicoli comes out of the employees' bathroom and the robber plans to shoot him, but Brad spots a pot of boiling hot coffee and splashes it on the robber, disarming him. His getaway driver speeds off as Brad subdues the robber at gunpoint.

He didn't blame Arnold. He was mad that he didn't back him up after Brad got him the job. He was mad that Arnold, who he was covering for, hid in the bathroom once he saw there was trouble.

Stacey didn't reject the flowers. She needed her brother to get rid of them before her parents came home. She was covering up the fact that had snuck out of the house to go out with a 26 year old Ron Johnson.

No one has answered this question yet.

Throughout the film, it is clear that the characters, while all attending the same high school, are in different grades. There is some evidence within the film. But in the book it is clear that Ridgemont High covers 10th-12th grade.

-The book says Stacey is in the 10th Grade. At the beginning of the film Linda says to Stacey "You're 15 years old." And people typically turn 16 during 10th Grade.

-Brad and his girlfriend are seniors, or in 12th grade. Both make explicit references to this being their last year of school.

-Linda is also in 12th grade, she makes references to her forthcoming graduating and her boyfriend being unable to attend.

-Spicoli is 15 years old and a Sophomore. This is according to the book.

At All-American Burger, Spicoli shows his surfer buds a guitar pick that supposedly was given to him by Mick Jagger.

After Brad kicks out Spicoli and his pals, the manager, Dennis Taylor, comes out and notices a pile of french fries in the trash bin. Brad tells him that they were left over from the last shift, but Dennis ignores it and tells him they were still perfectly good.

When Stacy and Linda are walking out of the mall. A fellow employee runs up to them and asks Linda advice about having sex without getting pregnant.

On the first day of high school, Brad's pals are complimeting Stacy as Arnold, another fast-food employee, wants a job at All-American Burger.

After Spicoli is kicked out of Mr. Hand's classroom, he is seen with his buddies in the boy's bathroom getting high.

A short dialogue scene occurs during the cafeteria sequence where Stacy and Linda are met by an old friend and her boyfriend.

In the mall parking garage, Stacy tries to search for Ron Johnson's car, but Linda talks her out of it.

As Damone and Mark are talking in the mall, a brief shot is shown in the mall with Ron being led away by police in handcuffs. Apparently, Stacy's mother had reported him to the police after finding out he had sex with her daughter.

A telephone conversation occurs between a half-naked Linda and Stacy before the latter goes on her date with Mark.

A 10-second scene is shown when Mark and Stacy enter the restaurant they're eating at.

After getting fired from All-American Burger, we see an extra scene of Brad angrily ripping up a Coke advertising poster above his bed.

A scene shows Brad in the guidance counselor's office who is not happy with him as he has not filled out his college applications.

A scene occurs after Damone had ditched Stacy and Linda tries to comfort her.

At the dance, Mr. Hand is signing class yearbooks.
