Initially Alex Trebek started puzzle by pointing out that behind the 25 numbered squares on the game board were three WILD! cards and 12 matching prizes. Eventually he opened the first game of the day by reporting that a home viewer had written in to point out that with three WILD! cards there could only be 11 prizes. Then before the day's second game he said that an audience member noted that since each game started by revealing two pieces of the puzzle there were in fact only 10 prizes per game.
