Kumiko
- [after Miyagi saves Sato's life in the hurricane, he and Daniel survey the devastated village. Sato's trucks pull up]
- Daniel: Hey, what's all this? What's Sato doing here?
- Mr. Miyagi: Don't know.
- [Sato gets out, dressed in a foreman's outfit, takes off his hat and bows low]
- Sato: I come help rebuild. Here deed to village.
- [Sato hands Miyagi a scroll]
- Sato: Forgive me, I beg you.
- [bows low]
- Mr. Miyagi: Oh, Sato.
- [pats him on the shoulder]
- Mr. Miyagi: Nothing to forgive.
- Daniel: [whispering to Kumiko] I think now's a good time to ask him.
- Kumiko: It's not my place.
- Daniel: Uh, Mr. Sato? You know, O-Bon dance is soon, and it's going to be really hard, the way things are, to have it here in the village.
- Sato: What you ask of me?
- Daniel: Well, can they have it in the castle? I mean, that's where it really belongs, isn't it?
- Sato: [smiles at Miyagi] Your student become my teacher.
- Sato: [addressing the villagers] O-Bon will be held in castle, now and forever!
- [the villagers cheer]
- Sato: One condition: you dance with us.
- Daniel: You got it.
- [Daniel and Sato shake hands]
- Sato: Okay?
- Daniel: Okay.
- Mr. Miyagi: [puts his hand on theirs] Okay.
- Daniel: [to Kumiko] You see? If you put your mind to it, anything can happen.
- Kumiko: [chuckling] You're right.
- Daniel: Thought anymore about dance school?
- Kumiko: I told you, no schools for that here.
- Daniel: There are in the States.
- Kumiko: My home is here.
- Daniel: Home is where you hang your hat.
- Kumiko: Do you think that I would like America?
- Daniel: I think you'd love it.
- Kumiko: Do you think that it would love me?
- Daniel: Well, I know one part of it that already does.
