Baby is pushed into the talent director's job at her father's resort and must overcome the resentment of dance teacher Johnny Castle and gain independence from her overprotective dad.

Baby and Johnny always seem to disagree and get on each others nerves, but during an unusually long heatwave and following a series of mishaps they are thrown together and develop a powerful attraction to each other.

Delia Stone (Sandahl Bergman), a beautiful woman in her late thirties arrives at Kellerman's looking for Johnny. She was his first dance teacher, and the first woman he ever loved. Now she wants to convince him to renew their partnership for a dance contest.

Johnny and his dance partner Penny are rehearsing hard in order to impress a visiting dancer, when out of the blue his parents turn up at the resort. Surprised by his father's sudden interest, they are forced into a bitter confrontation - which only Baby can diffuse.

When the handsome folk-singer Daniel Flare (Cameron Dye), arrives at the resort, Baby, her cousin Robin and the rest of the female staff are determined to be noticed. Robin and Baby learn about friendship as they engage in their first big fight.

Giselle Perodot, the Belgian beauty crowned New York's Miss Subways of 1963 visits the Kellerman resort and all male heads turn. But no-one is more interested in than Max Kellerman himself, a fact that leaves Baby with a serious dilemma...

"Stand By Me": The staff at Kellerman's resort is thrown into turmoil when financial difficulties are highlighted by the accountant. Max is told there is only one solution to keep from going under - to lay off almost half its staff!!

"Book of Love": Handsome young novelist Julian Kanovich, fresh from the success of his first bestseller, has come to Kellerman's to start work on his next book. Much to Johnny's disapproval Baby falls in love, but Julian is not as committed to their relationship as she would like.

Its Baby's mother's birthday and she's expecting a visit from her at the resort. When she arrives Baby hardly recognizes the stunning change! Shocked and embarrassed at her appearance, baby is left angry and bewildered until Johnny helps them both to learn respect for each other.
