John Candy and his campers fight to save their camp from Rex DeForest's bulldozers. Disguised as a haunted tree, John scares the crew, but real trees come to life, driving them away. The forest is saved, and the campers celebrate.
When Camp Candy's kitchen catches fire, John is given only one week to get it rebuilt or the camp will be shut down. The campers try to come up with a way to raise money to get the kitchen rebuilt. One of them suggests they go to Coperhead Cave to dig for gold.
John finds a treaty with George Washington gave the land his camp is on to a local Indian tribe. The Chief lets John keep his camp if he joins the tribe, by undergoing hair-raising initiations.
