Kim Basinger was Prince's second choice for Aura. They were also dating at the time. Basinger and Prince broke up before production started, and he scrambled to find a replacement. Sheena Easton, Mayte Garcia, and Sheila E. were also considered.
Though they've both appeared together on "Purple Rain", this film marks the first and only time the Kid ever speaks to Morris onscreen.
With the notable exceptions of "Thieves in the Temple" and "Round and Round", the rest of the songs from the film (and soundtrack) are reworked versions of demos recorded for projects and album concepts that were ultimately shelved, dating as far back as 1981.
Among the many songs by the Kid that Aura leafs through is a song called "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic". This song was to have appeared on Batman (1989) in the museum scene, but was replaced with "Partyman". However, the song would ultimately become the title track to his album "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic", released in the year 1999.
