  • This is a good example of what can be called the "French politically correct cinema." A young Arab (A "beur" ), completely unscrupulous ,tries to use his girlfriend's bourgeois parents ,to make his way of life.Edwige, the young girl ,is of course sick and tired of her bourgeois milieu,in the grand tradition of the post-68 ideology.

He makes a manful attempt to crack the commercial coconut ( the big business of the Easter market, the chocolate hens(!)).He tries to convince his pals that they can earn much more money that way.

Perhaps,if France had had someone like Billy Wilder ,it would have succeeded...perhaps...or at least Etienne Chatiliez..
