FAQ

Ghostwriter

FAQ

The Ghostwriter episodes entitled "Who Burned Down Mr. Brinker's Store?" featured a character named Craig Mitchell, a teen who knew a lot about electronics and was instrumental in clearing Jamal Jenkins' name after a false arson accusation. Craig was played by actor Jeremy Miller, best known for playing Ben Seaver, the youngest son of the Seaver family on the classic sitcom "Growing Pains".

After the case was solved, Craig sees Ghostwriter and is officially initiated as a member of the Ghostwriter team. However, after "Who Burned Down Mr. Brinker's Store?", Craig is never seen, or referred to by any other characters ever again.

"Who Burned Down Mr. Brinker's Store?", even though it was the second episode of "Ghostwriter" to air, was actually the very first episode filmed. The actual first episode, "Ghost Story", was shot later because PBS wanted the first episode to explain how Ghostwriter was first discovered, and how the Ghostwriter team came to be.

Initially, the creator of "Ghostwriter" wanted the character of Craig to be an older, teenage mentor to the younger members of the Ghostwriter team. However, the producers decided it was not a good idea for the show to have an older Ghostwriter team member. Consequently, even though "Growing Pains" had just ended its 8-season run in 1992, Jeremy Miller was never invited back after the episode was filmed.
