Courtney Thorne-Smith stars as a small town beauty queen that has a few problems of the mental kind. She has an obsession for a man who already has a longtime girlfriend. She will stop at nothing to get him and keep him forever.
Kevin Reese (Kyle Secor) is a simple and good man in love with Beth (Tracey Gold). He fights to pay the debts left by his father and recover the family's farm from the bank. One day, he helps Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith), a beautiful and deranged girl elected the `princess of the lactic'. Cheryl develops an obsessive passion for Kevin, and tries everything to be with him, transforming Kevin and Beth's lives in `hell on earth'. In the introduction of this film, the viewer is informed that this story is based on a true fact. Courtney Thorne-Smith is really gorgeous and has a great performance, but the story is very common and does not bring any surprise. My vote is six.

I watched this movie when it first aired in the fall of 1995 on NBC and since I have viewed it again many times on Lifetime or either the Lifetime Movie Network. Courtney Thorne-Smith is at her best probably the strongest performance of her career and certainly at her sexy best. Courtney showed no flaws at all as an obsessed beauty queen from the midwest who will stop at nothing until she wins the man of her dreams (Kyle Secor) even if it means destroying his true love (Tracey Gold) and finally the obsession becomes murder as one by one it is just her and Kyle. Not only is Courtney at her evil best in this movie but her beauty shows all. That hot scene with Courtney in a reddish maroon bra and panties with Kyle Secor on the bed was great! Now talk about Courtney having hanes her way! Watch this sometime on Lifetime or Lifetime Movie Network it airs often you will enjoy!
Courtney makes this above-average TV drama truly riveting with an alarmingly convincing portrayal of a beautiful psychopath. Wow! Thanks to you, Courtney, I may never date a beautiful woman again.
He was in "Homicide Life on the Street" around this time as well. Yes, this movie does represent cheesy, made-for TV drama- but that's the fun of it!.
Tracey Gold does okay as the favored fiancée, who is murdered by someone in a small mid-western town- the title "Midwest Obsession" is better than the generic "Beauty's Revenge"- interesting that this film was marketed in other countries with a title that seemed to remind us of "Fatal Attraction".
Courteney Thorne-Smith is the "Dairy Princess" so at least whoever wrote the screenplay has a sense of humor. While this was based on a true murder, I find it hard to believe that kind of contest exists, and the winner drives a zebra-upholstered pink convertible. The scenes at the end, in the "Airstream" RV that Smith lives in are pretty amusing, albeit unintentional.
This movie proves 2 things 1) My drama teacher said try to find something good in every piece of art or trash-you might learn something and 2) Really good actors can elevate the role to something better. In this case, Secor. All in all, not the worst film ever made. And at least you aren't paying $10.00 to see it in the theatre.

This film is representative of the whole cheesy TV-Movie Genre. Mad beauty queen chases the most clueless farmer in 3 counties. Only reason to see this movie is to see the stellar acting of Kyle Secor as Kevin Reece (clue-less farmer). The chemistry between the two lovebirds, Kevin and fiance, Beth (played by Tracy Gold) was just not there at all but off the charts between the Dairy Queen (Courtney Thorne-Smith) and Kevin. This movie boils down to one thing and one thing only - Bad girl tries to steal good girls boyfriend by hook, crook, tractor-death and strangulation. The entire thing was predictable and trite, give me "Homicide:Life on the Street" any day over dreck like this.
Painfully slow. I decided to watch it since Courtney and Tracey star in it, but their acting surprisingly sucked, and was over the top. It's interesting for the fact it's based on a true story though!
I could watch these sort of movies all day. It's a real shame TV Movies (TVM) don't get the credit they deserve because they do tell a great story in an amazing way. It's a typical afternoon daytime movie and if you ever have a day to yourself, then these are the movies you want to sit down and watch.
Tracey Gold at her best as always and the stunning Courtney Thorne-Smith sure does play a good malicious Dairy Queen Princess. She plays the role extremely well. The lengths she goes to to get the man she wants - and to think there are actually people out there that can go to these extreme lengths. Another true story told to add to my DVD collection. Again, superb acting from the cast. If you're a Tracey Gold fan or a Thorne-Smith fan, this one is definitely one for you. For the women out there, if you have a best friend that's jealous of your relationship, then here's some advice - keep your boyfriend away from the dairy cream! It might just go straight to his head.

I will have to check my "archives" at home, but I am sure I have a magazine with an article about this murder and situation. I don't remember the names of the people involved, as the movie may have changed them, but I believe it may have happened in Northern Wisconsin in the 1980's. The magazine had a picture of the obsessed female, a brunette, on its cover, and other pictures inside of the young man and deceased female's family. The three belonged to Future Farmers of America or a similar club, if I remember correctly.
Unfortunately, I only saw the last 15 minutes of this movie and cannot comment on the quality of it, yet with Tracey Gold, Kyle Secor, and Courtney Thorne-Smith as the leads, I am sure it is worth watching.

One thing that is hard to accept is that someone as pretty as Courtney Thorne Smith would throw themselves after a man like that. Other than that it's quite a watchable movie. A beauty queen Miss Dairy something sets her sights on a farmer. But he has a Girlfriend. Even though she briefly steals him away he goes back to his old girlfriend. So the pretty wacko gets homicidal.
Courtney is great over the top wacko. Worth a watch.

This movie is like all other lifetime films. Yup some crazy female does crazy stuff then ends up killing someone.
All the films are the same. Lifetime films has no variety. Sometimes I just want a relaxtaining movie nope. I gotta ensure another dark dull movie.
Whether these movies are based on a true story is irrelevant. If they are then audiences have to realize that they are watching the same old movies. That be said that means all of your lives are all the same. You think you are different but in the end you are all the same. Realize it.
Anyways...
This movie was not creative or good. Its a waste of time.

I was watching TV, wishing in vain for Homicide: Life on the Street to be on. Instead, I stumbled upon this movie and found Homicide's Kyle Secor in this LAME TV-movie-of-the-week-type flick about a female stalker. I was glad to watch Kyle because he's great in whatever he does, but I was so sad that he was stuck in such a STUPID "movie." I knew what everyone's next moves were going to be and I really couldn't stand it. It's hard to like anyone here (w/ the exception of Kyle). He deserves a new TV show and/or a few independent movie projects. What a great actor, but what a trite movie. If you want to see some blistering acting, watch reruns of H:LOTS.
