The show was very innovative, it brought many new ideas to the teen TV sitcom genre. Among these pioneering ideas: music videos (which featured original music performed by the cast memebers of the show, videos where shown at the end of every episode along with the credits via split screen), Its setting(filmed on various sites of "Sea World" in Orlando Florida), Its cast (Out of the Blue introduced the first "All-Latino" cast on a North American television teen series), and its filming (Each episode was to be filmed twice, once in English and another in Spanish, this was the producer's prototype intention. "Out of the Blue" inspired many fans around the world, it even was the cause of a tribute site entitled "The Java Lounge: Internet tribute to Out of the Blue".
