Nora Aunor in Atsay (1978)

Trivia

Atsay

Edit
The only film to have win the Best Performer in the Metro Manila Film Festival history. In 1978 Metro Manila Filmfest, the organizers decided to give just one citation for performers (no best actor nor actress nor supporting actor nor actress award) but only the Best Performer Award. Nora Aunor was awarded the Best Performer award for her performance in this movie. Amy Austria who played a supporting role in this movie was also a nominee for the Best Performer award. The film festival organizers wanted to have a gender sensitivity by stopping such sexiest award. The move, however, was scrapped the next year.
The only film to have won the Best Performer Award in the history of Metro Manila Film Festival
Nora delivered a short but very memorable acceptance speech. "Mamay , mali ang hula nila!" (their prediction is wrong) The fortune tellers predicted Vilma Santos to win the award for Rubia Servios, afterall, she was directed by Lino Brocka, the premiere actors director of that time. However, the judges thought otherwise. NORA won the best performer award.
MMFF 1978 is the most hotly contested awards night in the history. It is a duel of Nora & Vilma, they are the most popular movie queens of all time. The competition is not limited to awards & boxoffice returns. Their fans even had physical fight at the lobby of the cinemas where the films are being shown. Tension is in the air during the awards night with all the major players in attendance. Nora won decisively in the battle of the superstars
Nora's muted & subtle acting overpowered Vilma's noisy & hysterical acting in Rubia Servios
