Trigger
- Seaman Anthony Mazzola: [reminiscing about a date] Anyway, I can see I'm not gettin' anywhere with her. So what I do is, I use my secret weapon. I tell her about the S-26. Does the trick right away.
- Eddie: Now, you don't wanna be talkin' about that while we're underway!
- Seaman Ted 'Trigger' Fitzgerald: Why, what happened to the S-26?
- Seaman Charles 'Tank' Clemens: Yeah, what happened?
- Seaman Anthony Mazzola: You guys don't know?
- Seaman Ted 'Trigger' Fitzgerald, Seaman Charles 'Tank' Clemens: No.
- Seaman Anthony Mazzola: [taking an egg from Eddie's tray] She was runnin' a test dive down off Norfolk. Shaft seal failed, and she sunk to 400 feet. Know how much water pressure there is that deep?
- [Crushes the egg with one hand; Rabbit flinches]
- Eddie: Mazzola, you wanna be the first one to eat powdered eggs on this cruise? Keep it up, man.
- Seaman Charles 'Tank' Clemens: Batteries are dead. Whatever juice was left, we used up when we maneuvered.
- Lieutenant Andrew Tyler: What about the diesels?
- Seaman Charles 'Tank' Clemens: Starboard's a wreck, we need a drydock to fix it-port side diesel's good news. Whoever the Krauts had wrenching on it didn't know a piston head from his sister's titty. I think I can fix it.
- Lieutenant Andrew Tyler: Okay, Tank. Do what you can.
- Seaman Charles 'Tank' Clemens: Yes, sir.
- [leaves to fix the engines]
- Lieutenant Andrew Tyler: Alright, listen up. We've decided on a course. We're heading for England, Land's End. It's the closest, besides Occupied France. Rabbit, how many torpedoes do we have?
- Seaman Ronald 'Rabbit' Parker, Torpedoman: Just one. It's in the stern tube, which is busted-the high-pressure line's bleeding air from somewhere.
- Seaman Ted 'Trigger' Fitzgerald: [raises his hand] Sir?
- Lieutenant Andrew Tyler: Yeah, what is it, Trigger?
- Seaman Ted 'Trigger' Fitzgerald: Can't we just use the radio? Fire off a mayday, wait for a rescue?
- Lt. Hirsch: It's impossible. If we transmit, the Germans will direction-find our position to a grid with their missing two U-boats. If they even suspect we have the Enigma, they will change their entire coding system, and that would completely negate the purpose of our mission.
