  • I loved this series about the early days of the AA and RAC because it was a gentle comedy, without a hint of sarcasm in any of the scripts.

It might not be popular with the x-box generation who may prefer different types of entertainment involving lots of 'big guns, bangs and blood' but I loved The Last Salute.

It was based in a more gentle time that I remember very well from when I was a kid.

If you are reading this Amazon, please bring this series out on DVD.

I have tried to find the series elsewhere, but you just can't get it.

It is very easy to get DVDs of Last of the Summer Wine, which was my late Mum's favourite programme, but The Last Salute is more for the folk who are now in their 50s and beginning to feel a bit old and lonely.

Looking forward to finding out if my review will make any difference.
  • Absolutely dire first series, but attractively filmed in pretty locations. The crew filming it knew it was awful, but have said that the next series should be a lot better. It needed to be. Not gritty enough to be drama, and no noticeable trace of humour. Rather a shame for a comedy.
