Six children lose a toy plane in a high ruined tower.

Very basic premise spun out for 54 minutes.

Six children are playing with a model plane. It flies into the top of a tower. The restaurant of the film is devoted to their efforts to recover the plane. They get a rope to climb up but the rope is thrown into the same opening. So the next idea is to get a ladder,which is the longest ladder you could ever imagine. Naturally it gets involved in numerous farcical situations. It is not long enough. So they buy a fireman&#39;s ladder at an auction .Getting it to the tower proves to be an extremely daunting task.. However as they are disrupting traffic the police drive them near to the tower. When they finally get to the top of the tower a donkey walks off with the ladder and the rope. However the donkey finds the way in so they can get out. Too many jokes are repeated,and general lack of inventiveness. Nice to see Peter Butterworth and Michael Balfour.

The Rescue Squad

I&#39;m a big fan of the Children&#39;s Film Foundation series and I found THE RESCUE SQUAD to be a particularly enjoyable example of the format. The plot, what little of it exists, merely sees some kids losing their model plane in the top window of a historical tower with no entranceway, and then having to figure out how to retrieve it. What follows is an hour of the usual madcap elements of a CFF production: inventive children, slapstick pratfalls involving unfortunate adults, and lots of surreal elements. The kid in the wooden crate is my favourite element of this one, as he brings a Daliesque vibe to the production. Elsewhere, old-timers Michael Balfour and Peter Butterworth add some reliable goofiness, and the whole thing has a pleasingly vibrant tone; a celebration of yesteryear&#39;s childhood.

The usual CFF film plot is the children against the dimwitted baddies, at least one of which gets wet. The one was a series of amusing situations which were inventive. This is only the third review so far but for CFF film fans this is one of the better ones, only one that I&#39;ve seen so far could be called bad but this was due to it looking like it had been shot in the dark. I felt sorry for the boy in the box, if it was him in the box every time we saw the box on screen. Worth watching with many clever plot devices and all of the children in it are very good, sometimes one may be not quite as good as the rest, but all were OK in this one.
