WARNING: This is NOT a performance of Shakespeare play. This is a really bad Civil War film very loosely based on Shakespeare's "Tempest." They don't use even one word of dialogue from the actual play.
A man tries to rape a woman. He leaps on top of her, and he begins forcibly kissing and fondling her before he is stopped.
After being stopped in his first attempt, the same man spends the rest of the film planning his second attempt to return to her house and rape the same woman, but he does not succeed.
A great deal of sexual innuendo and references throughout

Good deal of graphic violence set in the American Civil War, including people being killed by cannon blasts and gunfire. Also depicts cities being burned and slaves in chains. None of this is in Shakespeare's play.
Also includes supernatural violence with the Prospero-like character creating storms and casting spells to try and vanquish his enemies.
The very opening scene depicts a great deal of violence. There is an attempted lynching, followed by the shooting of an African-American couple by the KKK. The man is not killed (though he is covered in blood). The woman, however, is shown being shot in the head and her blood and brains splatter against the wall in graphic detail.
We see numerous Union soldiers severely injured, covered in blood and bandages. We see an amputation taking place with very bloody detail.
Extremely strong violence for a PG-13 movie.

This is NOT the language from Shakespeare's play. Instead, they chose to bastardize it and write their own script loosely based on the play. The play itself has no bad language whatsoever.
Racist language more or less consistent with the era, as well as other moderate profanity ("bastard," "son of a bitch," etc.)
It quite literally PROFANES the literary beauty and poetic genius of William Shakespeare

Good deal of drinking and tobacco use consistent with the era

This is an AWFUL film, with a good deal of adult content. It will also be a major disappointment to people who thought it would be Shakespeare's actual play.
