Ethel is studying (not to mention practicing) medicine, because every Bed & Breakfast needs someone with knowledge of first aid. Neil and Kim have both got their mind set on moving into the spare 'box-room'. Harry has got a new job as a singing Telegram, and must dress up as Tarzan for a sweet sixteen party. Lucky for him, Dicky Heart & the Pacemakers are on hand to give him tips.

Ethel is trying to convince everybody that she's training an invisible dog. Harry has a gig to open a pet shop as a singing telegram, and dresses up as a gorilla, chicken, rabbit and a dog. Dawn returns from holiday and is exhausted from the trip. Neil and Kim are now occupying the box-room on alternating weekdays.

Dawn is being very posh. She has even gotten David Taylor to play her butler. What is more, she is hinting that her special VIP guest is none other than Prince Andrew (it turns out to be a DJ, Andy Prince). Harry is shocked to learn Kim has been dumped by her boyfriend Dirk (aka Berk), because Dirk just happens to be Harry's employer.

It's Martin and Hazel Edward's 20th wedding anniversary, but only Hazel remembers. This makes her understandably upset. Ethel finally reveals the results of the Quest for the key to the Box Room: Kim has won, but Neil suggests she shares it with Dawn. Ethel is planning to be a clown with Harry as her reluctant sidekick.

Hazel has thrown herself into directing an amateur production of "Pirates of Penzance". Martin, despite having two parts and being in charge of the box office , is sulking because of the lack of an anniversary present from her. Stage Manager Ethel is on a diet, Harry is doing the special effects but remains very confused about his role and Kim is in charge of publicity. She has set up a dark room to develop her photos in the shed. Harry and Kim end up winning a Funny Face competition.

Harry is afraid the others are trying to drive him crazy when they act even more silly and mysterious than usual. They are actually planning a secret Christmas pajama party for him (to make up for the previous Christmas when none of them could be together). As presents, Harry receives a video and LP of his all time favourite film, 'The Sound of Music'. Neil and Kim are now definitely an item, so he gets 3 football tickets from her, while Dawn receives a puppy. In the next season it would be revealed Ethel emigrated to Australia over the summer, taking the pup along.

Having spend the last 3 weeks selling chips with Neil in his chip van, Kim feels the need to stretch her legs as some kind of female Rambo and calls herself 'Kimbo'. In the meantime, Neil plays with boy scouts and Dawn presents the premiere of Front Door Productions' latest mini series: "The Z-team". It stars Neil as Tom 'Cannibal' Stiff, Dawn as Dimpleton 'Skates' Wreck, Kim as Marginally Mental Murky and Harry as Mr. P/B.A. Brat.

Kim is singing the blues because Neil is off watching football. S.A.M.A.N.T.H.A. Telebug has dumped the refrigerator in favor of the spin dryer. Copycat Andrew O'Connor is helping Harry to convert the shed into a Sauna. In anticipation of this, both Dawn and Kim end up wearing little more than towels when Harry presents the Duster Muster quiz.

Martin and Hazel Edwards have returned from a safari and were shocked to find No 75 emptied by robbers. Distressed, they have moved into the attic at No 73. Dawn proposed to thrown them a surprise party, but Neil is more interested in playing a football match. It finally turns out Andrew O'Connor merely borrowed the Edward's furniture.

We catch our first glimpse of Dawn and Kims room they awake to find a haunting, whistling sound. As it's Halloween, Dawn decides to take up ghost-busting (the mysterious sound turns out to be a musical instrument). Kim goes out on a sled ride while Harry dreams of a career in the movies and dresses up as a musketeer. Hazel has gotten a new job as an agony aunt.

When Andy brings over all of his stuff to move in, Dawn mistakenly tries to sell it in a jumble sale. Kim has ambitions to join the opera. Harry has a faulty shipment of left handed gloves to sell at his market stall and brings a dog to David and Dawns veterinary. Dawn joins in on a game of ice hockey, wearing her roller boots.

The gang is performing a live murder mystery with viewers able to call in and help the 'investigators' solve the case. Dredlock Hemlock (Harry) and Whatson (Samantha) seek to find out who killed Lady Isabella (Kim). Turns out her sister Radish (Dawn) did it. Afterwards Hazel the cook 'murders' Neil.

Dawn wants to publish her own newspaper. Geoffrey prints the paper and his auntie Hazel is the editor. However, Hazel also has to cope with her Agony aunt radio spot. Meanwhile Harry is still puzzled about selling stuff at his stall. To celebrate the birthday of St. Nicolas, Dawn dresses up as Black Peter (Zwarte Piet) and David Taylor as St. Nicholas in a rather hastily together pair of costumes.

It is freezing at No 73. Hazel argues with Maisie over a proposed Seaside show until Dawn takes over. Martin is practicing a speech and Kim her singing. Tony Deal is mentioned: He sold a car to Neil, which soon caught fire and now Neil wants Tony to pay up. Dawn reveals her dog is with Ethel in Australia.
