"Oh Bother!"

This may have been the benchmark of all the Flash-animated film parodies on the Internet (although Flash nor the Internet did not exist back in 1987), but it still is terrible. Made in 1987, this is made by a nerd who matched up random Winnie-the-Pooh scenes with dialogue from Apocalypse Now. Nothing more, nothing less. Also, the video quality was terrible, as if this was bootlegged, home-recorded or something like that. I don't recommend this to people who like animated Internet film parodies such as "One Ring to Rule Them All" or "The Matrix Has You", as all this is is dialogue from one movie thrown into Pooh cartoons. This is interesting for those who want to see the primordial soup from where Internet film-based cartoons came from, although "Apocalypse Pooh" was not made through the Internet (you can see it on IFILM). Not recommended for kids because of "S___" thrown in a couple times. The only interesting part is the "Satisfaction" scene matched with Pooh getting carried away by the kite.

If you can find it, watch it!

An obscure but brilliant match-up of Winnie the Pooh cartoons and dialogue from "Apocalypse Now." The Pooh characters and Coppola's characters make some surprisingly well-suited pairs, such as a frantic Piglet mouthing Dennis Hopper's rants, or the casting of Rabbit as the machinist who is "wound too tight for the jungle." The filmmakers even reversed the technique for the Col. Kurtz character, combining footage of Brando with dialogue from Eeyore. And then there's that great closing line: "Oh bother...oh bother..."

The tape I saw also featured two similar combinations of wholesome animation and twisted cinema: "Blue Peanuts," with the Charles Schulz characters mouthing dialogue from "Blue Velvet" (Snoopy as Dennis Hopper...incredible!), and a "music video" of the Archies performing The Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen."

A hilarious short based upon Apocalypse Now.

Apocalypse Pooh (1987). Pure genius is the only way I can describe this animated short. The film makers splice in a chopped up Disney cartoon featuring Winnie the Pooh and his comrades with the insane audio soundtrack from Apocalypse Now (1979) and they pull it off. Winnie the Pooh stars as Willard as he looks for the notorious Colonel Kurtz (played by Eeyore). The gun boat crew is also featured as well. Piglet, Tigger and that weird looking rabbit make appearances as well. To try and describe the short would be an injustice to those who haven't watched it yet. I felt that it's better than the original movie (that's my opinion).

I would try to find a copy of this brilliant short. Fun stuff that wont disappoint you one bit!

Very Funny

Good enough to make you wish it were longer, while being smart enough to stop before it wears out its welcome this melding of Pooh and Viet Nam is a short treat.

Almost impossible to find this film is worth searching out if you like film conventions turned on their heads. This is a clever parody makes you wish that you had been both clever and talented enough to think of it.

You will forgive the lack of details but the film being so short I'd rather not ruin any of the bits for you.
