  • This is an Our Gang short where you really feel badly for Joe. After all, he has a toothache AND his mother has him watching Rupert...a baby who has done nothing but cry for three hours! To make it worse, his little brother, Wheezer, is a little psychopath and spends most of the short either trying to smash bugs with a hammer (waking the baby each time) or pushing the baby's stroller so that the baby might just fall to its death!! In addition, Joe has to contend with noisy neighbors (the guy with the Bass is a REAL jerk) and construction equipment!

I never really understood some of the stuff the writers had Wheezer doing...and running amok smashing bugs with a hammer certainly is odd! Also, I should add that the description of this short on IMDB makes it sound as if Joe was being a bad brother and rocked the baby too hard...this wasn't the case.

So is it any good? Yes. While it's not among the best of the Our Gang shorts, it's fun and enjoyable...though Wheezer just left me perplexed!

This Hal Roach comedy short, Noisy Noises, is the eighty-second in the "Our Gang/Little Rascals" series. Joe has a toothache while he tries to make his baby brother Rupert sleep but around him in his apartment, various tenants are either playing a bass, a tuba, or a piano with a female singer who isn't good! When the rest of the gang arrive playing their own instruments, Joe asks them for help and also to accompany him to the dentist...This was quite a funny Our Gang short what with not only what I just mentioned but also Wheezer being distracted trying to hit a bug, a monkey hanging around outside, and pandemonium that ensures when Rupert's carriage slides down the road! Plus there's some funny sound effects to accompany this silent effort. So on that note, I highly recommend Noisy Noises.
