| Dacoit (bandit) leader Tilak Singh starts a vendetta with Raju, who had foiled the dacoits attempt to rob a train. Can Raju take on this formidable band of dacoits?
This is a typical formula movie, with some excellent bits of acting by Shashi Kapoor (Raju). Raju helps abort a train dacoity for which he earns the enmity of Tilak Singh, leader of dakus (bandits).

Tilak's favoured form of public execution is Phansi (hanging)which he uses to terrorise villagers near his mountain hideout in the Chambal.

Tilak Singh is represented as a thug and his encounter with Raju and his family in the small village of Chandanpur brings about a story of deceit, bravery, friendship and of course love. This reviewer finds the songs to be moderately good, with some bearing on the overall story, but not much.

Chaaya (Rati Agnihotri) has some good moments, but overall her performance is a bit short of good. Abdul (Ansari) turns in an excellent scorecard, though his role is quite limited. All in all, this is a good movie to catch, if you have a couple of spare hours, where you do not wish to think; and yet be moderately entertained.
