FAQ

Bridget Jones's Diary

FAQ

No one has answered this question yet.

After the opening credits Bridget weighs herself to begin her New Year's Resolutions. Her scale has two gradients, one presumably in pounds, but the other one in red makes no sense. What is it?

A.: Actually, this is due to the rather unique way the Brits measure a person's weight. The numbers in black are for kilograms, but the bigger numbers in red measure a person's weight in "stone". This is yet another archaic measurement, where one stone is equivalent to 14 pounds, or 6.35 kg. Thus if you were to ask someone how much he weighed, he likely wouldn't say 168 lb. or 76 kg, he'd say 12 stone.

In order to get around an '18'-Rating, the word "cunt" was replaced with the word "cow" on the British DVD.
