  • Saw this film at the Lake Arrowhead Film Festival. The filmmakers did a good job of avoiding the usual traps of this kind of movie. They didn't hit the "American Beauty"-thing too hard and, except for a few places, avoided trite sentimentality. The film could have been a few minutes shorter, but the ending was pretty powerful. I'm still not sure if I am supposed to be happy or sad at the end of the movie.
  • Oh, my God, someone's actually trying to make movies for mature adults. It was slow like a good European film (think Rhomer, Bergman, Bresson), but it kept building and building momentum. Good job, guys. Your ending's stuck with me all year.
