Saw this film at the Lake Arrowhead Film Festival. The filmmakers did a good job of avoiding the usual traps of this kind of movie. They didn't hit the "American Beauty"-thing too hard and, except for a few places, avoided trite sentimentality. The film could have been a few minutes shorter, but the ending was pretty powerful. I'm still not sure if I am supposed to be happy or sad at the end of the movie.
