  • Dalibor Matanic is an important figure of Croatian film industry. Although he is just 33 years old,he has already made two important films including "Fine Dead Girls". "Blagajnica hoce ici na More" is a family film as it deals with a mother's love for her daughter who is suffering from some unknown disease. This film shows us how a small shop worker suffers due to the callous attitude of her boss.Matanic has made a light film which never loses its grip as there is plenty of eye for detail. The problems of raising a child when you are single parent are nicely discussed here.It is being suggested that in such a situation it is the child which suffers. The shop owner is shown as the villain of the film because of his odd sexist behavior. He is the one who has to look after the safety and security of his shop. The women characters of this film are weak as instead of helping our protagonist in distress they decide to be on the side of the man who is harassing one of their own people."Blagajnica hoce ici na More" was selected for Filmlinc's New directors New Films 2001 series.
  • This is a charming tale of a supermarket cashier with a sick daughter; and the revenge she takes on her boss when he cancels her planned holiday to the seaside. I loved the droll humour, and there are a lot of funny situations in what is a dramatic tale. The superb acting of the whole cast helps -- no Hollywood faces or teeth here! The fact that it is a simple story so well told speaks volumes for the competence of the European film community. 9/10 for me.
