This is the exact same movie as "the doorman" right? just re-released at a different time etc. I am glad too see there are some positive reviews of this. Hollywood and the movie going consumers that drive the industry have created hoards of formulaic movies and no-talent actors like chris pratt,J-lo, etc. etc. and this thing kicks ass, this is what indie filmmaking is all about, im so sick of seeing no-talent big studio movies and also no-talent no-budget movies shot with a dslr and indie movies shot with reds and cinealtas, i mean it could be done, but im not seeing it very often, all i see is yucky looking "this era xl1s" style stuff and it sucks. This movie is so cool, has a lot of dimension to it, the lighting was awesome, the scenes...man i love this biotch, this was good. To me this an ultra cool movie and a cool lesson in fimmaking.

Full of believable characters, The Honorable held my attention for the entire film, something that can't always be said. While the pacing was at times uneven, the cinematography was beautiful and the acting was excellent. Though it was by and large a dark film, it was spiced by unexpected humor, mostly through the character of Junior Lopez, a delightfully evil man ably portrayed by Eric Etebari. I look forward to more films by the director and actors.
  • I liked this film a lot. It was obviously not made for a lot of money but it is a real knock out of a picture. I was really quite impressed by the film makers ingenuity. It's dark, ugly and uncompromising, I expect to see good things from these guys. I would especially like to see where Jesse johnson goes with his next movie, very interesting indeed. I especially liked the scene where Mister vandenberg's character killed a bad guys by biting his neck until he dies, then spitting the flesh out. Very audascious for a leading man to dispatch bad guys this brutally. See this movie and write a review. i am interested to see what others thought.
  • Main Cast: Dominiquie Vandenberg plays Andre, an ex-soldier with raw-nerve sensitivity and misplaced anger. Eric Etebari plays Junior Lopez, a wealthy criminal with animalistic charisma. Sarah Bowen plays Janie, the woman they both want for very different reasons.

Mr. Vandenberg and Mr. Etebari are excellent cast choices to play antagonists. Andre attracts the audience with his vulnerability, while Junior seduces the audience with his fierce charm.

Storyline: Honorable combines many elements into the main story; the after effects of war on a soldier, the mortality and motivations of a criminal, and the manipulations of a young naïve woman. Well-placed characters move the story forward with humor, and without losing sight of the underlying tension between the antagonists. The storyline shows many perspectives of the same situation, which all lead to the climatic ending.

Director: Jesse Johnson did an excellent job with this movie. LA provided a wonderful backdrop to complement the grittiness and complexity of the story. Interesting location shots and camera angles balanced the acting styles of his cast.

Overall: This is not your typical movie! With a surprise ending, talented cast, solid storyline and wonderful direction, it's a must see for all independent genre fans!
  • A really gripping little picture, some terrific acting, and really edgy material. I saw this on cable and have been looking for it on video to no avail. The lead actor Vandenberg is definitaly a talent to watch out for. If you get a chance see this film!!
  • Eric Etebari as Junior Lopez is fantastic! Its a Dark movie but it has some great messages on the corruption of people's souls and how far does a man go.
  • I saw this movie at the Independant Film Festival and it was definitely a wonderful surprise. The story takes you on a journey through the Temptations and introduces you to the Evil almost demonic Junior Lopez played outstandingly by Eric Etebari(Witchblade's Nottingham) Junior peddles flesh and knows how to tempt beautiful naive girls and Men who are mercenaries. But He meets finally A HONORABLE MAN.

I loved the ending to the movie. Great surprise. Script is wonderful Acting is great especially the performance of Eric Etebari Its truly and Dark Movie but has a Meaningful Message. Is there Men who follow that code of Honor in this modern age?
  • Didn't expect much with this film, obviously not a studio budget, but I was blown away. A strange but poignant little film. Really heart felt in it's own way, and some oustandingly good quality action type fight sequences. A strangly emotional film, tough to take in, but worth it. Not your usual martial arts flick for sure. I recommend it, but reservedly.
  • This film has tremendous heart. A low budget production generally has two ways to go: 1) cheesy (T&A, unjustified violence posed as 'action', etc.) or 2) in depth character study with a tight script (and hope that people 'get it'). The Honorable is strong in the later category, thanks largely to director Jesse Johnson crackling execution and lead actor Dominiquie Vandenberg's understated performance. Vandenberg portrays a man searching for truths in his present life while wrestling with guilt from his past so well. He's clearly excels at the speak softly, carry a big stick approach. If all goes right, Vandenberg may be a 21st century version of Steve McQueen in the making.
