I didn't see the first 2 episodes, but I did see 4 or 5 of them. And what I saw, I loved! First of all, the ferret is awesome. Actually, the ferret makes the show. Grandma is funny in sortof a sick way. I couldn't really get into the character of Clay, but that's probably because I had a hard time getting past the fact that the guy doing the voice just isn't very interesting. Johnny's funny and Paula (played the smoking hot Juliette Lewis) is absolutely great. This show rivals SOUTHPARK and I wish I had known about it sooner. If this were on HBO instead of Showtime, everybody in the world would be huge fans. On the other hand, it probably wouldn't be as edgy. I can't wait for season 2. I'm a big fan.
  • I was a huge fan of the comic strip and thought moving it to TV might ruin its edgy humor...but it didn't. Juliette Lewis is awesome as Paula...is it possible to be in love with a cartoon woman? And Angus the Ferret steals the show.

I watched all of the first season's episodes and liked almost every one. Some were absolutely, fall out of your chair funny. A couple were only OK. The humor got pretty raunchy, but was funny. And like I said, some stuff was outrageously good.

The episode with the IRS Agent is definitely the best.

All in all, a great show.
  • From the first episode that I saw, I knew I was in for a treat. I love the episode where Grandma got a call from her doctor, and the doctor told her that she had Chlymidia. Grandma then notified everyone on the internet, Television stations, radio stations, a passenger airliner. What was really funny though was when she got a phone call from The Peoples Republic of China.

I also loved all of the other episodes
  • Mix up Charlie Brown with South Park and you got "Free for All." A truly great animated series that wasn't given a chance to flourish. The writers from this show continued to push the envelope, each and every episode.

It's been 3 years since this show has seen the light of day ... and I still laugh about some of the scenes.

This show came out at the same time as Dead Like Me, and they were both eventually cancelled. Cooincidentally, they were both great shows in their respective genres. Showtime really needs to give their shows some time to flourish.

I really hope that this show will be released on DVD soon. If you like South Park, Tripping the Rift or Drawn Together ... you will love this show. If you ever have the chance to see it ... see it.

so I was relaxing in Cabo San Lucas when this show comes on and it was free for all, I had never before seen this show and I was perplexed, I loved how tragically tacky it was grandma with boobs down to the floor and being a nymph, I couldn't get enough, I got lucky enough to have a marathon of this show on my vacation so it turned out to be great. the show was great and the drug addict ferret topped the charts. All I want to know is where I can buy this show. I contacted show time and it was never released to my dismay. I think this show did not get enough play as it is hilarious it is up there with the likes of little Britain, if you haven't seen that it has great humor like this show. so all in all I recommend watching this show just to laugh and for those people who don't find humor in this show I am sorry because I couldn't stop laughing
  • With all honesty, I wasn't expecting too much out of the promos for this series when I first saw them. Well, I got exactly what I'd hoped out of it... nothing. I hear tell that it's supposed to be based on a webcomic of some sort. Well, if it is, it's based on a pretty crummy one. My first impression of the series is that it's a third-rate ripoff of a genuinely-good webcomic called Sluggy Freelance. The characters, even in their context as cartoon characters, are crude and simply unentertaining at best. The storylines are formulaic and unimaginative, and most of the humor is needlessly crude. It relies on cheap 'dick and fart joke'-sort of material, and that's unimaginative even by the standards of such humor.

The ideas behind this series have been done before. In fact, they've been done much better without having to, say, resort to twisting the nipples of a nicotine-deprived grandmother in an attempt to get a few laughs.

2.5 out of 10, but that's only because the ferret's funny.
  • I just watched the first episode of this show. Ugh. I didn't laugh a single time. I didn't even grin. I could see where they were trying to be funny, it just wasn't working. The supposed edginess just feels dated. And the animation was awful, it was like watching a slide show. I don't see this show going anywhere. I want my half-hour back.
  • "Free For All" is a funny animated show geared for younger adults with a look that IMO is VERY similar to Gary Trudeau's Doonesbury comic strip style. An homage perhaps? The series features Johnny who lives with his drunken father and psycho grandmother who is trying to force Johnny to leave so she can have his room. Johnny is hopelessly in love with his neighbor Paula who is clueless about how he feels. Johnny's best friend is Clay - a millionaire who owns a ferret (Angus) that is addicted to Vico-den (their spelling) and booze. The animation is crisp and typical of the newer fare on Saturday morning TV. The story line is decidedly adult, peppered with numerous obscenities and numerous sexual scenes. Definitely not for the kiddies. Kids wouldn't find this funny anyway as most material would be over their heads, but mature audiences should find this highly amusing and a fun half hour. Enjoy!
  • Warning: Spoilers
I'll admit, the first episode was kinda crappy, but for a short-lived series (that ended with a deranged Home Shopping Network man shooting all the main characters), it is/was pretty cool, even if it is a little cliched. I only watch it because of Clay Zeeman, Angus the ferret, Sylvia (the chain-smoking horny grandma), and Doug (the drunken dad).

My verdict: Enjoyable to watch, could have been more developed, ended too soon. 7/10
