    Warning: Spoilers
The movie 'Sardar' is based on the life of Sardar Vallabhai Patel (role played by Paresh Rawal) who was an eminent leader, playing a great role in the Indian freedom struggle; taking steps and actions according to the situations. The movie is a tribute to the Iron Man , who was not given much of the importance . Sardar had a dream to build a socially powerful and economically progressive India. The movie has beautifully showcased the great leadership qualities of Sardar Patel, as well as that how he first criticized Gandhiji and his methods of achieving independence and then later on he accepted the same methods and followed Gandhiji's path of satyagraha. Sardar solved all the problems that India faced in its pre and immediate post independence period one after the another with ease and intelligence. Though the movie is based on the life of Sardar, we also get to know about the various political issues during India's independence.

Sardar leaded various satyagraha and launched several movements which were all successful and people supported him in large number. The movie also brings to our notice the difference which sows seed between Nehru and Sardar. Though there were differences in their thoughts, the respect they had for each other did not fade away. Sardar resigned from his position of Home Minister very soon as he thought that there is no point in working with President Nehru because of their gaps in thinking. The entire struggle which Sardar faced to bring Independence and unify the country and also to prevent some of its states from being captured by the foreign politicians has also been covered in the movie. The film also portrays how after the death of Gandhiji ,Nehru and Sardar work together. The film ends showing how the plane in which Sardar was traveling faced technical problem and was landed in a village in Rajasthan where Sardar rests under the shade of one of the plane's wing and says that today from Kashmir to Kanyakumari , there is one independent nation

I remember watching this movie as a child. I did not understand it fully back then. But at the age of 15 I had another chance to watch it on the TV and I fell in love with the movie! Its story is well-knit, the characters are established very clearly, the music gels well into the story and each of the artistes has acted tremendously well. But above all what appealed to me was the simplicity! In spite of having multiple strands to the main story, it keeps you engaged.

I have been trying to find the movie online for many years now. But no luck! Everybody who ever gets a chance to watch it, I recommend; must do so!
