The Benchwarmers

Anachronisms
Reggie Jackson was born in 1946. For he and Mel to have been tuba camp together, it would have to have happened in the early 1960's. The photo depicts hairstyles and clothing more suited for the 1970's. Also, this would make Mel a person who should be in his late 50's or just turning 60. His character is far young then that in the film.

Continuity

During the championship game, The Benchwarmers are losing 9-0 in the first inning. On the scoreboard it says they have 9 errors which is probably true, but later in the game when the scoreboard is shown they have zero errors.
At the beginning of the movie, the establishing shot shows the 3 kids playing baseball on the field and then moves in on Gus' truck pulling up to a house, where we see a lady pushing a stroller past the truck. The next shot is a medium shot of Gus getting things out of the back of his truck, and cuts to the kids playing as he looks at them. When it cuts back to the medium shot of Gus by his truck you can see the same lady walk past the truck again.
Right before they notice K.I.T.T., in the background there's a brunette lady wearing a pink top and white bottoms. She had already walked out of the pizza place. Then, you see her walk out of the pizza place again even though she was already outside moments before
When Gus hits a home run, the ball goes flying and hits the man with Brad in the swimming pool. His nachos go flying and the tray lands between his legs. In the next frame he picks up the tray from his left side.
The hand guard on Howie's (plastic) sword is gold-colored; when he is lifted into the air after winning the game against Wayne's Hardware, the hand guard is silver.

Factual errors

In their very first game, Gus says that the score is 17 to nothing. This should not be possible. Richie and Clark are first to bat, and each get 1 out. Then Gus is up and scores a run. Richie or Clark have to be up to bat after Gus, so they would score the third out, therefore causing the end of the inning. In innings 3, 5, 7, & 9 Gus would get two at bats. Assuming the game is 9 innings and the Benchwarmers are the visiting team and assuming neither Richie nor Clark reach base the most runs they could score would be 13.
Mel says the ballpark builders have 24 hours to build the ballpark. This is impossible because it would take over 24 hours to lay the cement and let it dry, let alone build the rest of the park including the pool and slide, which would take several days to finish by itself.
When Molly tells Gus he should have been home by 6pm, Gus claims he thought she meant Mountain Time. rather than Pacific Time. 6pm Mountain Time is earlier than 6pm Pacific Time, meaning Gus would have been home on time had he followed his own logic.
Throughout the movie the kids are watching the game via the Internet. They are using Netzero dial up but are watching the game at Broadband speed.
Near the end of the film when the Ms. Pac-Man game is shown, the sound of the Ms. Pac-Man machine is incorrect. The sounds it is making are from a Pac-Man game. This is especially noticeable during Ms. Pac-Man's demise.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

After the opposing team in the finals of the tournament let Nelson get a hit, when rounding third base, he does not touch it on his way to home plate. Because of this, the home run should not have counted. However, in order for the base runner to be called out, the opposing team must challenge the play. The proper procedure would be before throwing the next pitch, throw the ball to the base that was missed. Then announcing to the umpire that the base runner failed to touch the base. If this is not done before the next pitch then the base runner is safe.

Revealing mistakes

When Clark swings and loses the bat. When the bat hits the windshield on the car, you can see the bat bounce off the windshield. Then you see the handle of a bat slowly come from the inside of the car.
As Howie races back into the house after retrieving the cookies, he runs in his closet and pulls the cord on his door to close it. For a split second, you can see the string snap off the door and the door does not get closed all the way.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

When Clark throws the rock into the lawnmower and then The lawnmower shoots out the rock into Richies testicles he pukes and you hear the sound for his puke come out but you don't see any vomit come out of his mouth.
When the 3 men first pull up to Mel's house, David Spade makes reference to Clay Aiken but that was dubbed over a word that starts with B.

Crew or equipment visible

When Mel and the construction crew are in the field discussing the plans for the new stadium, a fly lands directly on the camera lens (it's in the upper right-hand corner of the screen).
In the part where Gus, Richie, and Clark are in Schmeglers house they run to their seats. When Richie and Clark go to their seats they pick the second and third chair from the end and when they sit down you can see a hand pull the first chair away. In the next scene the first chair is missing.
The lighting backdrop can be seen in the reflection of Shmegmer's Darth Vader door greeter.
At the scene of the final tournament, where the camera is facing the water slide, you can see the Goth people's shadows behind the slide.

Plot holes

When Ritchie, Clark and Gus are leaving Pizza Hut, Mel and Nelson appear to be getting out of K.I.T.T. But Mel makes a comment on what Gus had said to Jerry inside of the restaurant.

Boom mic visible

As Clark jumps into the bushes during the first doorbell ditch, you can see a boom mic reflecting in the window.

Character error

Mel says the tournament will be a round robin tournament, yet when it starts it is single elimination. Round robin means you play everyone.
Howie is said to have agoraphobia, which is a fear of open or public places. However, Howie shows more symptoms of heliophobia, which is fear of sunlight.
Number 7 says Mel's last name is Carmichael but Mel says to that his last name is Schmegmer.
When Nelson is lying in the middle of the baseball field after getting the 'beef stew', he starts to get up, but once Gus and Clark reach him in the next shot he is still lying on the ground.
