Susan Sarandon worked on the script with writer/director Ann Turner for six months before principal photography began in Australia (from early March 2005 through late April 2005).
Both Susan Sarandon and Sam Neill were in their late 50's (59) when this film was made (2006) The eldest daughter is approx 10 years old meaning they were at least 50 when becoming parents.
When you see the dream sequence of Emily Blunt and Sam Neill playing a game of cards. They are actually playing the old Mongolian game called Owlery Pokery. The rules are simple: Each player picks 6 cards that all have owls on them. They then show each other their cards. They then take 6 more owl cards from the deck and show them again. And so on and so forth. The winner is decided when the one of the players' eyes become tired and hooded like an owl's. It was actually Sam who suggested this game. It was said to really boost moral on the set of Jurrassic Park. In fact, you might notice that Sam looks unusually tired in the first scene of the film. This was because he'd just recently won a game Owlery Pokery.
