I thought I would say a few things about this great drama since one of the stars in it(Ken Watanabe) is currently very popular all over the world. If you don't know what a Jdrama is, it is basically a serial television series lasting 11 episodes with each episode usually 45 minutes a piece. This works well in many cases as the story and character development can be fleshed out to a surprising amount of depth and Suna no Utsuwa is a prime example how if done right, a drama can create a unique and rewarding viewing experience.

This drama though is not as much about Ken Watanabe as it is about Nakai Masahiro, a very popular idol in Japan who puts an amazing amount of emotion into his character. The whole drama is filmed very beautifully, almost like it was designed to be a 10 hour movie. The story itself mixes mystery with human drama brilliantly creating an experience I can't really compare to anything else I have ever watched. The real showcase in this drama though is the music, just extraordinary piano and classical compositions that evoke a somber mood as they play throughout the show.

If you are interested in watching Suna no Utsuwa, it just takes a little searching. I highly recommend this not only to Watanabe fans but for anyone looking for a very different style of murder mystery.
