Like most of the Kino's Journey series, violence in this episode is rare, but never holds back from showing blood or injury detail. Still, it's nothing near gory or gratuitous.
Brief smoking.
The one and only true act of violence in this episode is a scene where a demented character tries to murder Kino with poison and a kitchen knife. Kino is forced to shoot the character in the chest in self-defense. We see some blood spray and a bullet hole in the character's clothes. The scene is actually far more frightening than it is violent (due to insanity, the character is shown stalking Kino in an animalistic manner). Highly likely to frighten certain audiences.
