Fox has picked up the competition series “The Snake,” with comedian Jim Jefferies onboard to host.

The series will air on Fox this summer and stream next day on Hulu. An exact premiere date will be announced at a later time. The series is wholly owned by Fox Entertainment and produced by 495 Productions. SallyAnn Salsano serves as executive producer and showrunner. Frank Miccolis and Kim Green also serve as executive producers.

“I’m thrilled to be hosting ‘The Snake!’ A show about making friends and faking friends,” said Jefferies. “I’ve been training for this job my whole life. Growing up In Australia, and now living in Hollywood, I’ve been around plenty of snakes.”

In the show, 15 people from what Fox describes as “very persuasive professions” will compete in a variety of challenges. The winner of each challenge becomes The Snake, the person who decides who stays and who leaves the game.

So You Think You Can Dance judge Allison Holker and her daughter Weslie Fowler are launching their debut podcast Between Us with Allison & Weslie with Podcast Nation.

The new representation follows Lythgoe’s Legacy Productions opening a new office in Nashville in early January. A year after Paula Abdul sued American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe, the parties came to an agreement and settled the suit.

On December 30, 2023, we reported that Paula – who left American Idol back in 2009 – had filed suit against Nigel, claiming that he'd sexually assaulted her.

Paula's claims pertained not only to American Idol, but also So You Think You Can Dance?, where she was a judge until 2017, and we explained:

TMZ reported that Paula Abdul’s negative experiences with Nigel Lythgoe stem from the early days of American Idol. They were in an elevator together while scouting out talent when he reportedly shoved her against the wall and started to assault her. The lawsuit indicated that she tried to push him off and immediately ran away once the doors open. Paula wanted to speak up at the time, but feared retaliation.

Paula Abdul has reached a settlement in her sexual assault lawsuit against Nigel Lythgoe.

The “Straight Up” singer sued the 75-year-old TV producer and accused him of sexual assault and verbal abuse while they worked together on American Idol. Rhythm + Flow marks Netflix's first musical competition series. It follows a group of rap artists who compete in a series of challenges for a $250,000 grand prize. Akin to other competition series like So You Think You Can Dance, the series is known for bringing plenty of drama along with its dance antics.

The series premiered on Netflix in 2019 behind a judging panel featuring Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and T.I. and returned in 2024 after various production delays. Season 2 began on November 20 with a new trio of judges: DJ Khaled, Ludacris, and Latto.
