  • Anna Lee (Imogen Stubbs) looks into a suicide that may have been murder in "Anna Lee: Requiem," the first episode of the short-lived 1994 series "Anna Lee." It's a shame this series didn't last because it was quite good.

The detective firm for which Anna Lee works is hired by a friend of the deceased, Mike Trevor (Michael Grandage), who was a music star down on her luck. She had been trashed by a detestable radio critic (Martin Proops) and dropped by her music label due to decreasing sales. She is found on the beach, dead, apparently having jumped from her apartment terrace. Trevor believes that the charismatic head of the music label, Gilmore (Jesse Birdsall) was cheating her and is responsible for her death. He wants proof. Anna worms her way into Gilmore's circle and finds herself more involved than she planned.

Very good story with a twist, with excellent performances all around. Stubbs is adorable. Highly recommended - I got my copy of the series on ioffer.com.
