J.R. Ewing
- J.R. Ewing: You know, I always felt down deep that Jenna Wade was a better mate for Bobby than you.
- Katherine Wentworth: [Exasperated sigh]
- J.R. Ewing: And now I know why.
- Katherine Wentworth: And I don't suppose I can stop you from telling me?
- J.R. Ewing: You just have too damn much money, Katherine. Putting you together with Bobby could double his assets, maybe even triple them. And I don't want him to have that much power.
- Katherine Wentworth: You don't? Well, there's nothing you can do about it.
- J.R. Ewing: Oh, I've already done it, honey. I played the tape for Bobby of you and me in bed. It's all over, Katherine. He'll never marry you now.
- Katherine Wentworth: I'll kill you, J.R.!
- Det. Harry McSween: I've got some good news for you from San Angelo.
- J.R. Ewing: You got something on Clayton Farlow?
- Det. Harry McSween: I made contact with someone who was around at the time of the fire at the Southern Cross.
- J.R. Ewing: And so?
- Det. Harry McSween: Farlow brought in bulldozers and leveled the ruins even before the embers had a chance to cool.
- J.R. Ewing: You telling me he was trying to cover up any signs of arson?
- Det. Harry McSween: That's exactly what my contact said. He said rumors were flying all over San Angelo; in fact, they still haven't been laid to rest.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, I want you to pump this contact of yours for eyewitnesses. Time is growing short, Harry. If Farlow torched that place to cover up the murder of his wife, well, I wanna know before he marries my mama. That's the kind of information that could bring this wedding to a screeching halt.
- Max Flowers: I just wanted you to know that I'm doing my best. But sooner or later, even an idiot with a long straw could suck up oil out of that tract.
- J.R. Ewing: You're just gonna have to make sure he keeps getting the short straw.
- [takes a swig of beer and grins]
- J.R. Ewing: Hell, he's used to that anyway, isn't he?
- J.R. Ewing: [putting on his shoes after a tryst with Katherine] That was definitely not terrific. A meeting with my tax accountant's more exciting.
- J.R. Ewing: I'm tired of fooling around with this kid, Peter Richards. It's time to lower the boom on him.
- Det. Harry McSween: Okay. You want me to pick the time and the place?
- J.R. Ewing: Mm-hmm. Just so long as it's soon.
- J.R. Ewing: [muttering to himself outside Bobby's office] There's only room for one king of the hill around here, Katherine. And I'm it.
