- Robert is back on the force and back with Amy. But something is still wrong.
- Robert has fully recovered from his physical injuries and joins the force back. He also invites Ray and Debra to a dinner to celebrate his first day on the job. He says that he has invited Amy to it, after she called him (allegedly to ask for a pink sweater back) and now they are back together.
Robert was out on Patrol with his partner Judy (Sherri Shepherd). Robert and Judy get a call to investigate a store theft. The store owner (Richard Assad) points Robert and Judy towards a group of young boys, who had stolen something from the stole, and now they were busy playing an arcade game inside the shop. Robert loses his nerve when confronted by a bully at the store (the bully is dismissive towards Robert and gets really angry when Robert shuts down the arcade machine to get his full attention), who Judy handles effortlessly. This was during his first day back from medical leave. Robert decides to quit the police force and take up a telemarketing job.
He and Amy (along with Ray and Debra) were supposed to go for dinner, but Robert can't do that either. Amy is pretty upset and thinks that Robert regrets getting back together with her. The family is shocked that Robert has quit the force. Robert already upset Amy with his yelling and even talks back to Ray and Marie when they won't leave him alone.
Debra knows something is wrong as Robert was very excited to go back to work. Robert says that he had a confrontation with a punk inside a candy store and he got scared. Robert froze thinking what if his friends jump him, or if one of them has a gun. Debra says that Robert has to give himself time to adjust, but Robert says that one cannot adjust a daily feeling of terror. Frank is afraid that now Robert is going to move right back into their house. Robert wants to sell extended appliance warranties over the phone for the rest of his life. Robert says that he would make the same money as on the force, and he would not even have to leave his apartment.
Debra suggests therapy as she knows how much Robert loves protecting the public. Marie believes that therapists don't help as they only blame the mother. Debra says that she herself has been to therapy and they only help to sort things out. Marie is alarmed and wants to know if Ray knew this before they got married. Frank says that there were no therapists in World War II or the Korean War, they only had 50,000 Chinese soldiers facing them.
Ray takes Robert to a petting zoo to face his fear: Nestor the bull that hurt him. The bull was sent to community service at the petting zoo. Finding the bull to be docile now that it is in a non-stressful environment, he talks to the bull and comes to terms with it. He then decides to go back to his job. He makes up with Amy as well.
