Synopsis

  • At 11 pm, Faron and Bonnie Cassidy are driving through the night in their van. They're in contact with Faron's son, Travis, who is tracking something. Bonnie gives him directions.

In a field, an armed Travis is following a tracking unit toward his target. His brother Vance is in the woods nearby, similarly equipped. Travis gets a solid reading, and Vance figures that "he" is still between them. Bonnie picks up their target on her equipment in the van, and she warns Travis that their target is dead ahead of him. Faron drives to the location, and Bonnie warns Travis that he's closing on him.

Travis looks around but sees nothing in the high grass. Something growls in the darkness, and Travis runs away. He trips and looks up, and a demon--Ahriman-lunges at him. Ahriman picks Travis up and impales him on a nearby piece of farm equipment.

Vance runs up, and Faron pulls up in the van. Ahriman has disappeared, leaving Travis impaled on the equipment.

At Curious Goods at 11:05, Jack is going through papers when the lights flicker. Micki tells him that she's checked the fuse box twice and nothing is wrong with it. She has already called the power company, which said that power surges happen. Jack signs the paperwork making him a co-partner in the store with Micki, and they share a toast. He wonders if Micki is trying to get rid of everything that reminds her of Ryan, and she says that she wants the store to be in good hands if something happens to her.

A package came from a museum while Micki was out. It contains a ceremonially dagger that was donated in Lewis' name, with no return address. Jack identifies it as an Enochian dagger, used by a demonolator to make sacrifices.

Vance takes Travis' body to the van, and Faron remembers earlier when he armed his sons.

    -----

Travis worries about shooting the wrong targets rather than the cult that took Bonnie. Vance and Faron both figure it doesn't matter, and Travis finally gives in.

    -----

Vance interrupts Faron's reveries and tells him that it's time to go, and they both go to the van. Ahriman lurks in the forest, and howls. In the van, Faron insists that they're going to find Ahriman. Bonnie gets a bearing five miles away, and says that there's more negative energy than she's ever seen. The brother and sister argue until Faron tells them to shut up. He tells Bonnie to get a fix on the spot, and Bonnie apologizes to Vance and tells him to find Ahriman and stop him. Faron and Vance leave.

At the shop, Jack tells Micki that demonolators can use the dagger to summon a demon from Hell. Whoever performs the sacrifice can control the demon, setting out a task. The demon is paid in souls. Micki and Jack take the dagger into the vault, and Jack admits that he doesn't know if Lewis used the dagger. The lights flicker and go out, and Jack cuts his hand on the dagger trying to bring out some matches. When the power come back up, Micki and Jack see the blood on the floor... absorbing into the stone until it's gone.

Faron and Vance find a barn in the wood, and Faron figures that Ahriman knows they're there and why they're there. A sigil is written on the side of the barn in blood, and Faron remembers the same sigil on the wall.

    -----

The three Cassidys break into a chamber filled with demonolators. The robed figures fight back, and Faron realizes that one of them is Bonnie. Once she realizes who Faron is, Bonnie breaks into tears. Faron hands Bonnie off to Vance, and opens fire on the figures along with Travis. Bonnie screams in horror as the demonolators go down.

    -----

At 11:17, Johnny is at his apartment listening to a baseball game on his radio. Micki calls him and starts to tell Johnny what happened. A power surge blows out the lights and cuts off the phone, and Johnny heads over to the shop.

Vance confirms there's nothing in the nearby farmhouse. He and Faron check out the barn, while Ahriman watches them from the shadows. Bonnie tells them over the comms that the interference is still blocking her.

    -----

In a hospital room, Bonnie tells Faron that she couldn't stop. Her father assures her that it's all right and hugs her. Bonnie says that she saw the demonolators take out the sacrifice's heart, and then they summon Ahriman. She explains that the cultists sent Ahriman to stop the Cassidy from killing them, and Ahriman will kill them all if the Cassidys don't stop him first.

    -----

Ahriman is in the barn, and watches Vance and Faron prepare to search the structure.

Johnny arrives at the shop and finds the lights out. Micki calls him down to the basement, and Jack is checking a grimoire that says that blood will be drawn to stone, in a place built to accept blood. Jack smears more of his blood on the floor, and it disappears, absorbed. Jack explains that spectral energy, from the souls of the dead, surged through the lights and the phone. Their watches have stopped, and Jack finds a hollow spot beneath the floor using a hammer. Johnny gets a crowbar, and they pry open a slab.

Faron and Vance check the barn's ground floor, and then move up into the loft. Vance's detector goes off and Ahriman growls from the shadows.

Johnny and Jack move the slab aside, revealing stairs leading down. The trio go down and finds a church of necromancy, where demons are raised from Hell. A skeleton is strung up on one wall.

Faron and Vance find Ahriman's bloody footprints on the floor and follow them.

Micki finds a whole blasted in the stone floor, and Johnny finds a tunnel leading off and joining other tunnels, which lead into the sewers. Jack says that they'll get cement and wall it up in the morning, and finds a demonic contract signed by Ahriman.

Jack realizes that Lewis built the vault to contain any demons, and the demon can't get out unless its caller leads it out. He warns that the only way to break the contract is to kill the caller. Johnny doesn't believe it, and Micki finds fresh blood dabbed on an archway.

At the van, Bonnie continues monitoring Faron and Vance. The father-and-son move into the barn's main loft.

Johnny finds more fresh blood on a wall, and the trio figure it's coming in from above. Jack takes Micki upstairs with the contracts he'd found so they can decipher them, leaving Johnny in the church to stand watch.

Faron and Travis search the loft, and Travis' detector goes off. The signal gets stronger, and Ahriman reaches up through the wooden floor. Faron fires at it, and Bonnie hears Travis yelling over the comm and drives the van to the barn. Ahriman pulls Travis through the floorboards despite Faron's attempts to hold his son. The demon throws Travis around and then grabs him, and Travis manages to stab it in the shoulder with his knife. Ahriman throws Travis outside through a wall and escapes, just as Faron and Bonnie arrive.

As Bonnie pulls up in the van, Faron cradles Travis' broken body in his arms. At 11:32, they drive off and Bonnie figures that Ahriman's time is running out and he's heading back to the energy source. Faron says that they'll be there first, and Bonnie says that it would have been better if Faron had never found her, and kept Travis and Vance instead. She suggests that they stop before something happens to one of them, but Faron refuses to let Ahriman get away.

In the forest, Ahriman pulls the knife out of its shoulder and walks away.

Micki and Jack go over the contracts, and find a contract dated that day. Jack explains that demonic contracts are dated the day they come true, and it's a full moon. Whatever was called up is coming back, before the contract expires at midnight. Jack suggests that if they can identify the demon, they may be able to find a way to stop or destroy it. Checking his grimoire, Jack identifies the demonic sigil in the contract.

In the church, Johnny approaches the hole in the floor. A pool of blood is forming in it, and the image of a woman forms in the liquid. Micki and Jack return, and Jack says that more souls are gathering. Micki has translated the contract, and tell Johnny that the cult was being killed. They summoned Ahriman to avenge them, and if Ahriman kills all of the cult's killers by midnight, the cult will come back to life. Micki suggests that the vault itself might stop Ahriman, and Jack figures that there must be at least one cult member alive to control Ahriman. He points out the caller's mark on the contract, and says that the caller will have the same symbol on his body. Faron comes in and holds them at gunpoint.

    Ahriman arrives outside the shop.

Bonnie joins Faron, who figures the trio are there for the same reason they are. She says that she's planted the charges but their watches aren't working. Bonnie wants to kill the trio immediately, but Faron doesn't want to warn Ahriman and figures they can kill the trio after they've disposed of the demon.

Jack realizes who Faron and Bonnie are, and says that they might be on the same side. The Cassidys don't believe the trio just found the church, and Bonnie takes the contract from Jack. Faron figures they're demonolators, and says that they've put enough TNT into the tunnels to bring the whole place down.

Ahriman enters the shop through an upstairs window.

The Cassidys seal the slab, and Johnny wants to go upstairs and use something in the vault against them. Jack warns that they can't do that under any circumstances. Micki checks the pool and finds the souls of more cult members have gathered. One of them has enough form to reach a bloody hand out, and Jack pulls Micki back.

Faron plants an explosive charge on the shop's front door, while Bonnie does a sweep of the place and goes upstairs.

At 11:48, Johnny and Jack move the slab, and the trio go up to the basement.

Bonnie goes up to Micki's room and checks a book. Ahriman comes in through the window and Bonnie hears the demon enters. She turns to face it... and reveals the caller's mark on her chest. She smiles as Ahriman stops rather than attack her.

Johnny goes to the vault and finds the dagger.

Faron checks the shop, and picks up a bag of hand grenades that he brought. Up above, Bonnie watches him.

Johnny figures that either Faron or Bonnie are the caller.

Faron turns on his tracker and it starts beeping. He looks up and sees Bonnie, and he tells her to check downstairs to make sure the trio is still imprisoned. Faron goes upstairs following the tracking signal, and continues to the living quarters. Ahriman smashes in through the patio windows, and Faron shoots the demon with his semi-automatic. Bonnie ignores her father's calls for help, and Faron finally shoots Ahriman back through the windows and over the edge.

Going back downstairs, Faron sees Ahriman outside the front door. When it opens the door, it sets off the explosive charge Faron planted earlier. The trio hear the explosion and emerge from the vault, just as Bonnie arrives. Johnny struggles with her and her gun fires up into the ceiling. He disarms her and Micki grabs Bonnie's pistol.

Unharmed, Ahriman advances into the shop. Faron realizes that he can't stop it and runs for the basement.

Micki sees the mark on Bonnie's chest. Faron arrives with Ahriman in pursuit, and Jack orders everyone into the vault. They close the doors and Ahriman can't open them. Micki gives Faron the gun to convince him they're on his side, and Bonnie tells her father to kill the trio. When Micki tells Faron that Bonnie is the caller, Bonnie smirks and admits to her father that the cult never kidnapped her. She unleashed Ahriman to distract Faron, keeping him busy until she could turn the demon on him

Johnny grabs the dagger, and Faron grabs him. Bonnie opens the vault door and tries to call Ahriman in, and Faron detonates the hand grenades he's holding. The floor gives way, dropping Ahriman into the pool of blood. Johnny lands nearby, and Ahriman rears out of the blood.

Faron and Jack are stunned by the blast, and Bonnie tells Micki that Ahriman is going back to Hell with the souls he was promised. As Bonnie tries to leave the vault, Micki grabs her. Faron and Jack recover, and Faron intervenes to grab his daughter.

Johnny holds Ahriman off with a weapon in the church. It disarms him, and Johnny grabs a torch. He tries to hold the demon off but it easily knocks him to the floor.

    Faron and Bonnie struggle.

Ahriman grabs Johnny and prepares to kill him. Faron stabs Bonnie with the dagger, and Ahriman lets go of Johnny and falls into the hole and back to Hell. Meanwhile, Faron looks down at his daughter's corpse and moans in grief.

The next day, Jack cements the hole shut and inscribes the same sigils on it that protect the vault from evil. Micki figures they can use the church to expand the vault storage, and Johnny wonders if there was any other way to stop Ahriman. Micki figures that if Faron hadn't been so blinded by his love for Bonnie, there would have been less blood spilled.
