  • Warning: Spoilers
This series kind of breaks the mold for single mom sit-coms in a way that Roseanne broke it for family sit-coms. Even though it is not the first sit-com with a single mom it is more adult than others before it. The opening sequence is a classic moment for this blonde divorcee.

Grace (Brett) is driving a station wagon with the kids to their home. She gets pulled over by a state trooper (John Goodman) for a driving violation. As he starts to write out the ticket, Grace has a classic and complete melt-down. She goes totally insane, stressed out, divorced from h*ll. She becomes so animated that thr trooper decides to rip up the ticket and get outta there. This is a classic moment played by Brooke and Goddman for the sitcom.

That right there is enough to sell me on this show. It is not typical of the whole series though I hope Brett and Goodman did do some other roles in other places as the comedic chemistry between them is very evident here. The 2 kids are cute and the divorce from h*ll begins to set up an entire series of set-ups for Grace. She is already "Under Fire" in this pilot.
