The central case of the episode is of a man who has HIV as a result of sexual behavior. He is an open homosexual. He contracted the HIV by having sex with another man.

A little while after the patient tells Cameron that HIV was the best thing that happened to him, Chase visits Cameron at her apartment. When she opens the door, he finds out that she's high and she starts taking off his clothes. The next morning, as they are working on the case, House discovers that they slept with each other.

Chase tells Cameron that they can't sleep together again and talks about the sex, saying that people who have sex that "didn't suck" will do anything to do it again.

The patient is coughing, finds out he is coughing blood, and then coughs blood onto Cameron by accident.

There are several scenes during which surgery is being performed. There is a fair amount of blood and you can see each person's insides. The staff injects a cyst with something meant to kill a parasite inside, a sequence of the episode which is computer-generated. After the parasite withers and dies, they remove the cyst.

The patient's father punches House in the face. House then hits him in the gut with his cane, triggering a rupture in a cyst in his liver (not seen). He then puts his cane on the man's neck, choking him.

The patient mentions using several illegal drugs, including meth, though he does not use them on camera. Cameron then finds his stash of drugs.

Cameron is shown as being high, though she does not take the drugs on-camera.

House's ex-girlfriend reveals that she is a smoker, though no smoking is done on-camera.

House (unsurprisingly), continues to take Vicodin.

At one point, the patient's father begins choking because a cyst inside of him ruptures.
