  • This Maverick episode finds him saved by an outlaw Tommy Farrell when some sore poker losers try to kill him. Farrell's an amiable sort who has a conscience. When he's killed by outlaws as he lays dying he confesses that Richard Crane was identified wrongly and sent to prison for a robbery Farrell was part of. He makes James Garner promise to set it right.

Almost guided by an unseen hand of providence Garner finds the men. He also finds Joan Vohs who is Crane's wife standing by her man despite Crane urging her to divorce him and neighbor Richard Webb eager to marry her.

A couple of surprises in this story but justice is served as Bret Maverick completes his mission.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Episodic ep has Brett being hunted by sore card playing losers. An outlaw saves him from them. Brett and the outlaw honestly board a stagecoach which in turn is held up. They stop the robbers but the hero-outlaw dies but not before confessing to Brett about a man who innocently went to prison for a robbery he ( the hero-outlaw) committed five years earlier. It gets more complicated from there.
