The battleship is first shown firing guns at high speed with a large bow wave, with its forward turrets pointing over the port bow. Seconds later, when the bombs explode, it is seen as being stopped (no bow wave) with its turrets pointing fore-and-aft.
In one scene just before the bombing of the battleship, it shows B-17s flying; a few seconds later, it shows different aircraft dropping bombs.
It is surprising that a Japanese battleship could get so close to Taratupa without anyone knowing.
The battleship 'Yakamura' was a model of a modified Yamashiro. There was no battleship named Yakamura. Also, the forward turrets were more of a heavy cruiser type, with the rangefinders on top of the turret. Japanese battleships had their rangefinder extensions on the side of the turret. It was a model because of the way it blew apart when it was hit by 'bombs'.
The shell explosions of the battleship shelling the base were just smoke bombs going off. If they were real 14-inch shells (Yamashiro-class battleships had 14-inch guns) they would have had a much larger explosion, even totally destroying the huts that were nearby.
There were no English sub-titles of the Japanese that was spoken, like there were in season 1.
