Summaries

  • A psychiatrist evaluates a patient who claims that the world will end unless he does endless little rituals each day. / At a murder trial, a deaf female court artist starts hearing the thoughts of the real killer, who's in the audience.
  • Psychiatrist Dr. Dan Critchley has a new interesting patient, Martin. Martin claims that, as a kid, he made in his mind a contract with God or whatever it is that makes the world go round, that if he performs a small ritual, something will or will not happen. In time, the number of these deals and rituals grew to such proportions that Martin had to spend a greater part of each day on them and, as a consequence, his family and professional life were eventually ruined. However, he kept on performing these countless little rituals daily anyway, because at this point, there were so many of them and they effected so many things that if he were to stop repeating them, the human civilization and maybe even the world itself would pretty much literally end. Amused by Martin's story, Dr. Critchley concludes that his patient is suffering from an extreme form of obsessive compulsive disorder or OCD for short. The good doctor decides to find out once and for all, who is the insane one - Martin, or the world.
  • Sandra McClinnon is a deaf woman (played by real-life deaf actress Terrylene Sacchetti), who works as a court sketch artist. During a gang murder trial, she suddenly hears in her head the thoughts of a police detective who investigated the murder and is now there in the courtroom to testify about the circumstances of the case. She realizes from his disturbing thoughts that it was he who killed the victim, took the victim's drug money and framed the victim's drug dealing partner for it. She tries to tell this to her doctor friend and the prosecutor, but no one believes her. When the detective realizes by accident that she knows what he did, she has no choice but to try to find the money he stashed in a secret location and prove that he's the killer. However, it turns out that the detective's broken psyche is a bit more complex than she previously thought and that there might be a way to end this whole tragic affair without further bloodshed.
