Gil Favor
- Gil Favor: Pushin' a trail drive is like movin' a whole town that isn't sure it wants to be moved. Some of its people are willin' - some aren't. You start out with problems, then you meet up with new ones. Whatever they are, however they happen, they have to be met. That's my job. Gil Favor's my name, trail boss.
- Margarita Colinas: I go now. I have what I came for. The sight of a coward who wounded the puma and would not kill it.
- Gil Favor: Senora, the cat was attacking our herd. We had to try to stop him.
- Margarita Colinas: You need not worry, Mr Favor, now that it is wounded, the animal will no longer follow your herd. It has closer and easier prey.
- Margarita Colinas: It is almost night.
- Gil Favor: We'll start in the morning.
- Margarita Colinas: I am not a man. And I am Spanish. You are on my land, and I must ask you into my house.
- Gil Favor: You've asked. No, thank you. We'll camp out.
- Margarita Colinas: Mr Favor, must you shame me?
- Gil Favor: We'll be glad to stay the night, Mrs Colinas.
- Ben Teagle: Mr Favor, how much of this are you doing for the herds and how much for Margarita?
- Gil Favor: Does it make a difference?
- Ben Teagle: No difference. Thought I'd ask, that's all.
- Wishbone: MR FAVOR! I can see the WHOLE ravine. There's nothing down there.
- Gil Favor: Come on up then.

- Gil Favor: you know, it's not the safest thing in the world to be riding in front of a man with a drawn gun and the hammer back.
- Gil Favor: Say, Teagle.
- Ben Teagle: Yes.
- Gil Favor: Back there in the ravine?
- Ben Teagle: Yeah?
- Gil Favor: If Wishbone hadn't showed up, you pull the trigger?
- Ben Teagle: I dunno.
- Gil Favor: You ever shoot a man in the back?
- Ben Teagle: Nope. Don't mean I wouldn't.
- Gil Favor: Well, that's something to know.
- Ben Teagle: The one that lives in there or is supposed to live in there, they call him Goldie. If he's alive, he must be over a century. Hard to believe, ain't it?
- Gil Favor: Men live to be a hundred. What's in there that you don't want to be in there?
- Ben Teagle: A whole lot, Mr Favor. A man who's lived a full century. Isn't that enough? A man who brought his bride up here and killed her because he found gold. And she wanted to use it. And he knew if she did, he'd lose her to the young man who wanted to help her spend it. Some people say I want Margarita for what she owns. I might be like the old man that lives in there. I got gold of my own. In a sense I can pay for anything she names. But she never named you.
