The newspaper that Steve looks at to check the date is for Friday, August 14, 1984. August 14, 1984 was a Tuesday, not a Friday.
Steve wraps an anchored chain around the skid of a helicopter to keep it from taking off, then forces it to the ground. But there's plenty of slack in the chain, and no matter how strong Steve is, the helicopter would simply lift him off the ground.
Obvious cheesy "clunky tin can" replica/mock-up of downed command module --- exposed/raised square panel on side, ordinary light-duty door-hinges for hatch, hatch is made of just light-gauge bendable sheet-metal, etc. Also, there are fewer fancy-looking external components on the mock-up compared to those seen on the command module that's shown in the "starting to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere" shots near the beginning of the episode.
At the beginning of the episode Steve needed the "Father's" transmitter to call for help, at the end it is revealed he has one in his capsule.
In the 1970's Nasa could not pinpoint exactly where a splashdown for a space capsule would land. The closest a spacecraft splashed down to its target destination was about 4 miles. So for non Nasa hijackers to remotely take over Steve's capsule and land it in within 200 feet of the spy's beach seems a bit cheesy.
