Jean Hagen, who plays the doctor-mother in this one, also played the ditsy blond actress trying to make the transition from silent film to talkies in "Singin' in the Rain" (1952). This was 10-11 years earlier. Impossible to believe it's the same actress - the hallmark of great acting.

bkoganbing14 February 2018Traveling west in this episode of Wagon Train are mother and son Jean Hagen in the title role and Chris Robinson. Jean's trying to escape a bad reputation back in New England where they think she might be into witchcraft.
When children's dolls are mutilated on the Wagon Train it's John McIntire who discovers who Hagen is.
John McIntire is not the only McIntire in this episode. Daughter Holly McIntire is in this one. She's a girl Duke Shannon is romancing, but Chris Robinson is also interested.
In the end this episode turns positively gothic. And one person meets one spectacular ending.
