Denise Galik as art teacher Paula Holtzgang
"I Wonder Who's Kissing Gabe Now" introduces Denise Galik as art teacher Paula Holtzgang, who praises Epstein's racy drawing in Kotter's classroom but is more interested in the teacher not the student. When she blurts out that she's in love with him Gabe figures she's kidding, but a passionate kiss on the lips convinces him otherwise. Meanwhile, Juan is eavesdropping outside, sees everything that happens up to this point, and departs to deliver the juicy details to everyone within earshot. Had he stayed he would have heard Gabe trying to discourage Paula by discussing his wife, or being a messy eater of crackers in bed: "I eat crackers too, I'm used to crumbs in bed!" Flattered but insistent, Gabe finally convinces her to leave without further incident, but Epstein's eagerness to blather what he knows precedes him by several minutes, the Sweathogs wondering who would get custody of them should the Kotters break up! Lovely, Cleveland-born Denise Galik was obviously the same age as the actors playing her students, and would make one return appearance in "Epstein's Madonna." This was the second season finale, the next to be kicked off with a hospital birth.
